While I'm not saying that I am a huge fan of the uni's (because anything blue and gold makes me violently ill), I do see what the athletic dept is going for, and that is BRANDING. You can't help but know who the team is when you see them on t.v.. The Montana State Bobcats is prominently displayed. They are going after more name recognition. And i believe these jerseys accomplish that goal. So from a marketing standpoint, they did a good job.

Edited 1 time for a one letter typo. :)
Another point I am taking away from this marketing (because that is what uniforms are, a walking billboard for a university) is that cats are displaying a large M on the helmet rather than MSU...I feel that is an attempt to be known/branded as THE team in Montana. You don't see Michigan State (or the likes of) doing the same thing.

The M on the helmet is a negative, in my view, as it's confusing. It should correctly read MSU.

Good points!

A number of years ago 10-15(?) we saw team names prominently displayed on pants, but if I remember correctly, they disappeared after just a couple seasons. Playing on natural grass fields it didn't take long before the team/school names appearance was less than desirable and sometimes pretty comical. With the large scale migration to turf, this form of branding (as you call it), could make a resurgence.

At least they say "State" on the uniform. That is a step in the right direction... Has for how they look? Meh.

For the love of God please put a helmet on CK. Overall the uniforms are alright (boring but alright) but the M being white looks horrible on those gold helmets. I would give them a 6 out of 10.

There was a big unveiling for this?? Other than the way-too-big-for-the-helmet "M" and the ridiculous 'bobcat' down the pants, are they any different than last year's uni's??

I think the uniforms are fairly sharp, but I can't see a back shot to see if player names are on the back. I'm old school and don't like player names; the concept of it's not the player, it's the team. I'm all right with the "M." I remember all the way back to the 60s when the Bobcats home unis were blue top, gold pants and a solid gold helmet. In this day and age of "entitlement." too much emphasis is on frills and apparel, but I realize that I'm in the minority on that issue.

A. There is a ton of history with the M. We weren't always Montana State, you know?
B. It irratates you guys, and who doesn't love that fact?
C. The M was brought back in 2000 by Kramer, and have had only two losing seasons since then (00 and 01). It has a winning tradition associated with it.

Nothing could be clearer than Kramer trying to irritate Griz Nation with the M. Does it irritate me? Not a whole bunch frankly. Does it amuse me? Abso-frickin-lutely! Reason being, with the helmet M, montana state is sending mixed messages by not clearly defining and embracing who they are, which is montana state university (msu). Gotta love that fact.

Let me know the next time you see Florida State with an F on their helemt. Ridiculous. :thumb:

This all seems pretty silly. Six uniforms? We're not talking about Oregon's six unis. We're talking about the Bobcats mix and matching three different pants colors with three different tops.
Heck, that's how I get through the work week.

Well you guys clearly don't want the M, so we are more than happy to take it. It's been a part of Bozeman and the university since 1916 or so.

I actually don't care if you have an M, because you are Montana State. I just don't personally like the design or colors.

I agree with Brint, I like the unis. Very solid, nothing crazy. I LOVE all white road unis. Loved the Griz ones too, but after the EWU in 2010 loss I don't think the players ever wanted that combo again. I think the Bobcats on the pant leg was a nice design. UA seems to get a little carried away with their stuff, but these are nice and not cartoonish. I'm certain the M sticker snafu will be worked out by the equipment managers before the opening game. I like all the combos. Nothing to trash on here. It's Egriz though, and the new Cats unis would be trashed on on this site no matter how they looked, so not exactly the best place to get an honest opinion. I suspect when the Griz unveil all of their new unis, it will be similar, biased trashing on Bobcat Nation too.

I don't think that's accurate. There have been many positive comments on here. I think in general the uni's are sharp looking. But I hate the M, and I hate the writing down the pants, and after such a huge build-up and unveiling, I just don't see a whole lot different.

What's interesting is that people have vastly different takes. A number of people like the pants writing, and many -- including a number of cat friends I have -- hate it.

I have yet a different reason to not like their new uni's. I don't like "piping". Yes, there I said it. It sounds rather, well, gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). I didn't like it when the Griz had it on their "University of Miami style" uniforms and I don't like it in general. To me it is too delicate looking for a football uniform. They should be BIG and BOLD. Piping just doesn't say that to me. Oops, sorry, got to run. I think I'm gonna be late for my mani/pedi...

Like our play calling in the playoffs, I doubt we will change the white around the M on the gold helmets. We have a different sticker that has blue around the M. It would look way better on the gold helmets. But no, we want to put it on the flat blue helmets that will be coming out later. God for bid we make a smart change after the big fashion show.

That would give them 9. I think they only have 2 tops.

They did a good job with them. I like how they are using the gold, too.
It will make em more stealth when on their backs!

Just Playin: They work for the Cats well. Good Luck to You All!
8-)

Good looking uniforms. The new M logo is really dumb though. Like how They finally have Montana State in bigger letters across the front. All the cat fans and recent players I know agree that MSU needs a their main logo to have MSU in it, they don't want to ever be confused with the University of Montana or 'Montana'. They are Montana "STATE". If I went to MSU I would feel the same way

Well at least MSU is consistent, the first MSU team (1897) had a M on the uniform

True...and got destroyed in the first game of the series. You keep the M, we'll keep the W's.

Lots of uniform envy on here. Uniforms do not win games. Can't wait for the season to start. Nobody will be talking about uniforms!
