Cats buyout game vs NDSU

Ideal would be for UND to release Montana from the contract to come there in 2013, and take the $100k (and add a requirement for a return game to UND) and go to NDSU. UND has 7 home games scheduled for 2013 so I imagine they would make more on the NDSU guarantee then they would lose in ticket revenue, and UM is going back to UND next year for a conference game anyways. UND and NDSU would get to renew their rivalry, UM could use the date as open or find a FBS game to play that weekend. Probably makes too much sense.

If your scared to play the best. Go play the rest. ALL bison fans will welcome the bye week in the playoffs when your AD decides its not in their best interest. I would be willing to bet his email and voicemail is full. Hopefully both teams will meet in playoffs. Fans, students, and team are welcome. Please leave ALL irresponsible parties for this at home. Pretty SAD deprieving the players and fans of a great game. Unfortunately it sounds like numerous fans have scheduled travel and lodging plans. Not to mention vacation time. If it was myself and any cost was incurred i would send bill to the scaredy cat in charge. Hope to see you in december.

You keep saying you and your, but you do realize this is the Griz board and not the bobcat board right? and the Bobcat's bailed on the Bison, not the Griz? You might want to go here to do your bitching:

I figured since there is this great thread, some can listen to Fields explain why this happened at 11:00

No one cares, that's why. NDSU has been doing just fine without the anchor around the neck.

DID HE SAY SOUTHERN METH? or does fields say "we are going to play Southern Miss, wait, no Southern Methodist"

NDB, I am not going to comment on something I do not know the facts. The Cats have gotten some excellent players from Texas, two of which were All-American. We don't know what the financial implications of all this is. As a fan, not playing you guys is a real disappointment. Especially pulling out at this late date. If you want to keep whining that's your perogative. It's not going to change things. Just makes you look like an ass wipe. Your preaching to the choir!
Just man up and admit the cats are afraid to play the Bison.

Just listened to the Fields explanation on TheFan. His voice inflection was "Oh, God, I'm dead, how am I going to spin this?" He only perked up when the interview was ending. The radio program has to call HIM. He should have made this announcement Friday and got ahead of the oncoming outcry. He didn't say what cupcake FCS team is coming to Bozeman, but you can be sure MSU believes this will be a home game win. I think the odds of ever scheduling NDSU again are zero. Two three year postponements, then a buyout. Lame. Fields said it wasn't HIS decision, alone, so he is covering his ASH. Amazing, but not atypical.

This decison was not the result of fans. Fields explained the decision today. From an MSU stanpoint it makes sense. His responisbility is to do whats best for MSU not NDSU. Both parties agreed to the buy out clause. Sh-t happens! Cat fans get another FCS home game. They had only five before this. They make money. They are trying to maximize the number of home games to make more money toward the next phase of stadium expansion. If people don't like it so be it. The NDSU fans can whine all they want on here. As far as I am concerned, I am moving on. Change happens all the time and I guess the mental midgets from NDSU need more training in this area. I guess they need to wait for Obamacare to take effect so they can get free anti-depressents!

Actually the AD from NDSU asked Fields to not make it public Friday. It sucks but it figures to give
us one more home game and gives our Texas boys a home game.

Statler & Waldorf, Cat fans don't care what you or the NDSU fans think. Fields did what was best for MSU. That's his job. We may not like his decisions but we don't have the responisbility for them either.

You should be real happy now that you have another reason to spew hate!

The way I heard it he definitely said Southern Meth. I admit though that since hearing of this epic bitch-like back out by the shats that I'm subconciously assigning a lisp to their AD.

So the SUMMATION STATEMENT proffered is this:

(A) Hey, did ya hear? The MSU Bobcats backed out of playing the two time defending champion North Dakota State Bison so they can play an SMU team that had to have it's 1987 season literally cancelled by the NCAA; having to sit out the 1988 season as well since they couldn't put together a viable team afterwards. A team trying to crawl out from under one of the biggest, if not the biggest, scandals in NCAA history that haven't even been to the postseason till 2009!!!

(B) SMU crawling out from under the NCAA Death Penalty = MSU crawling out from under the shadow of the UofM Griz finally makin' it back to the Playoffs in 2010 only to lose to those very same NDSU Bison 42 - 17.

(C) 1986 was the last viable year for the SMU football team until 2009. THE SAME 1986 THAT WITNESSED THE BEGINNING OF "THE STREAK." 16 game "Streak" = SMU hiatus under the "Death Penalty." That there "Streak" as good as a death penalty to any of those that bleed that proverbial "Blue and Gold" shlock of theirs. Oh sure, MSU may have gotten into the Playoffs in 2002, 03 & 06; that under a Jerry Kramer. But who do you think got rid of that very same Jerry Kramer? You got it. Peter Fields. As good as if it never happened since that very same Peter Fields is still around today.

Talk about birds of a feather flocking together. Peas in a pod.

You can't make this stuff up, folks.

I know Jerry Kramer was born in Montana but i didn't know he coached at MSU.

I wasn't aware of Taylors request. The buyout rationale seems logical, though. Just, after two three year postponements, then taking the buyout after NDSUs second consecutive NC, it does appear suspect.

This whole thing may be entertaining for Bobcat fans, but this whole thing is going to cost NDSU $200,000. That pisses me off . . . what so the MSU quarterback can play in TX, twice? I'm glad that all MSU cares about is pissing on contracts and getting home games vs DII's. This whole thing stinks, and this is a shit move if you ask me.

If the shoe is on the other foot, I'm equally pissed off. It would be a shit move if NDSU had done it. I'm glad this is entertaining for Bobcat fans, and they think that NDSU paying $200,000 out of pocket because of an MSU whim so your QB can play in TX (twice) is a bunch of whining.

It's that simple, MSU picks up the phone and costs NDSU $200,000. How can you make a business move like that in your right mind. Taylor should punch the guy in the nose and tell him to goto hell for making a selfish move like that. Did MSU pay for NDSU's trip in 2005? Are things that pathetic at MSU that they can't travel to a neighborhing state? Ya, NDSU is just whining, no bit deal!

'Scuse me, sorry to butt in, but I just have a quick question: why the hell are MSU and NDSU fans arguing about this on eGriz.com? Is there something about the "SU" thing that makes people act goofy?

WTF?

Why are North Dakota clowns coming posting on egriz about MSU breaking their contract? Can't go over to BN and state your whine over there? This thread is like a bunch of woman bitching at the hair salon.

Who the f***k cares!?

I'm surprised that Fields didn't postpone the interview until next week, at which time he could either delay again or cancel alltogehter.
