Cats buyout game vs NDSU

Not sure if this has been brought up or not, but completely hypothetical. Griz fans have been unhappy with the Oklahoma Panhandle-State-Municipal College of the Plains-University, or whatever they're called that is currently scheduled for 9/21. We have an open date on September 7th, the same day as the game that MSU just bought out. What do we lose by trying to schedule NDSU and buying out OKPSU? You then have another Division I game against the top ranked team (one that you aren't supposed to beat and wouldn't kill you in the rankings, where as OKPSU won't help you no matter what you do).

Quick, who has Haslem's number?

Because then either UM or NDSU loses a home game, something I'm sure neither are anxious to do.

Obviously a blow, NDSU did just add another home game with Delaware State to their schedule recently though. They now have six home games.

For your info Fargo, the Griz has also pulled out twice on your team. Your whining is getting pathetic. Are you trying to tell me that NDSU can't get another team in now and sell the place out. They could bring in Concordia from across the line and sell the place out. This thing about your losing all this money is bogus. If this game was so crucial to you guys why did your AD agree to a contract with a buy out clause that could be exercised so late. He entered into this contract williningly. He knew that this was a possibility. Maybe you need a new AD. You talk about honor and integrity, I think you need to look at your own school and how your AD handled the FB players in the phony voting issue vs. how the women softball players were handled. Not too much integrity in that situation.

I know smart business decisions are something you have a hard time understanding.

Montana has never done this to NDSU. I have no idea what you are talking about.

Montana State has done this twice and GSU did it once.

Yeah we will lose a lot of money. We'll be paying some MEAC/NEC/SWAC team $300k to come to Fargo now because we've lost all of our leverage since we have to do this so late in the process. So instead of MSU fufilling a second half of a home and home which would have paid NDSU $400-450k.

We'll be paying some school $300k to play here, in the end costing us $200k and getting an opponent that none of our fans care about playing.

Don't even talk about us playing Concordia. We don't play non-DI teams.

Fargo your whining makes it sound like the Cat game was your biggest game of the season this year. This stuff happens all the time in college football. Thats why contracts have buy out clauses. Get over it dude!

No I don't think I've ever seen a school get bought out twice by the same school for the same return game, especially not when one AD gave the other six years to figure things out. Certainly if it has ever happened I doubt the decision was made in late February when most other teams have their schedules finalized.

You are nothing but a bunch of gutless cowards and by far the most overrated program in FCS football. Enjoy recruiting Texas because you certainly won't be playing in the state come January.

Congrats MSU you probably just made $150k by playing SMU and cost NDSU 300k. We won't forget about this and nobody in our conference will either. FTC!

I think I found MSU's new mascot....

I don't like ndsu fans as the norm....but I like this guy.

Glad to have the NDSU folks see the Cats as we do. Or just ask EWU, who also had a verbal commit Flip flop to MSU. Their program just isn't real big on commitment. That said, at least MSU is not one of those play in a dome kinds of pussies. Just sayin'

I think I have seen a better pair of balls hanging from the bumper of a pickup in downtown Bozo than this MSEuliss Football program seems to have. Just saying.

Those balls appear to be bigger than anyone currently playing for the Griz. The "aura" of WaGriz seems to have no effect on the alleged ball-less Bobcats.

Jpun, I doubt the Griz would have tucked em and run for a safer game with which to make the playoffs. cats? Well look at the record playing the Bison. Better to take a chance at SMU than to get the season off being embarrased by a tough FCS program.

I am amazed that a cat fan would even try to defend any of this. It's has nothing what so ever to do with money! They are scared to get beat. They have had years to pull out of this game. How about if we play with our substitutes. Would they agree to play us then? Of all the college football programs in the nation I would have never thought a team from Montana would bail. I hope the Griz pound the snot out of the cats and I hope we get the cats in playoffs.

They're not from Montana. They're from Bozeman. 8-)

Crinnger, I don't think the Griz AD cared about your embarassment. His job was to do what is best for the program. No different with the Cats AD. He doesn't care if some fans are embarassed. He is doing what is in the best interest of the program.

I never said he cared, nor does that matter to me. Perhaps from a business sense it was the better move, but from a football sense it still doesn't work for me. Who am I? One Grizzly, however, one Grizzly who refuses to put frosting on the cow flop and call it cake. That cheque from SMU this year won't make or break your program, and if I were a player (which I am not) I would be insulted. A win at SMU completely negates my argument, as well as should be rubbed in my face in the off chance it happens. That is the one scenario where I will have shut my big ol' Griz mouth.

Now, in big bold letters, I AM AWARE WE HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS AT UM!

As for NDSU fans feeling slighted 1) We did chicken out against you guys, and 2) Your players are zero'd in on one goal right now this means nothing, and 3) Enjoy the ride while it lasts. You have a lot of which to be proud...Oh how I hate you for it.

Notice that I didn't defend the indefensible. Notice that.

Missoula is not what most of Montana is like. Montana is quite a bit different than the enclave of spirited souls who call themselves Missoulian. They can thank the rest of the state for the hard work the rest of us do to support the malaise-infested lifestyle of Missoula.

I expect nothing less from Ash...........worried about the day after ranking he is 8-) He knew the cats would take an embarassing beat down. Glad App State is staying the course :thumb:

I can see how Griz fans like these NDSU mental midgets. Fans from both of these teams are excellent at whining. I think if you check your facts that the griz have pulled out of playing in Fargo twice. The Griz have set the pace in the BSC for pulling out of games.

You griz fans wine about us pulling out to play an FBS school that benefits our program in more ways than one. But , yet you pad your schedule with heavyweights like Panhandle State. I am sure all you fans enjoy paying to see teams like that. Of course, after a losing season it was probably a good move to play a patsy to make yourselves feel good.

You all would be the experts in that "after a losing season...play[ing] a patsy to make yourselves feel good" theory, so we'll take your word for it.

cringer, finally someone with some common sense. Thanks for the apology on the obvious. We grew up with the pride that football teams in North Dakota and Montana were rougher and tougher than the rest of the country. The blue collar upper midwestern work ethic. What bothers us Bison fans is that they arent honoring their agreement. Sometimes you have to put the money aside and do whats right. We will try to get a fundraiser going to pay them more money to come to fargo if they can't afford to do so

You're defensive for a reason, and you know it.
