The lateness of the buyout does suck I agree. But, when the home and home was scheduled with NDSU, ND was not in the conference. Now the Cats are stuck with a road game to ND as part of conference. Two games traveling out there just doen't make sense financially. I feel that the Cats are an honorable school with great integrity as is UM. But, finances play a critical role in making programs viable in todays world. Don't be naive.

Naive in thinking a school such as MSU would honor commitments/contracts.......Guilty !!!!!
If your dumbass AD is so pissed off, maybe the next time he agrees to a home and home contract he will negotiate for a higher buyout and a longer term of notification, MSU did honor the contract by paying off your dumb North Dakota ass.

No next time he will just do business with an AD who has integrity and class. Other schools have bought us out before and I've never heard him say the things that he is saying today about them.

This is about money and recruiting, nothing else, and those two things are the life blood of any college football team. I could really give a sh!t what your AD feels, the fact is that the contract was honored to the letter, if he doesn't like it then don't agree to similar contracts,

If you wanted more money than you should have told us that months ago and went on pursuing a money game. We wouldn't have tried to stop you, we would have happily put your check in the bank and went on our way with finding teams that want to play us and won't string us along until something better comes up.

Congrats on your school being run by a bush league athletic department, glad you are proud of it as well and will defend it. I'd be ripping my AD to shreds if the shoe was on the other foot.

Look at the bright side bison fans....at least you don't have to worry about the Kitty fans burning down the bison mobile as they are known to do.

I don't mean to criticize the UM schedule. My main point is that this move by the Cats makes really good business sense in this day and age. Let's face it getting money out of the BOR is not easy. You have to maximize your bucks. Two trips to ND is a loser. Playing SMU, you make money, it is great for Texas recruting and it's a nice payback for the Texas players, especially DM, that are from the Dallas area. These kids parents had a hard time affording trips to Bozeman. It is a win, win all the way around.

If you can't see that than so be it!

Keep on rationalizing and convince yourself of that. The bottom line is schools will look at scheduling agreements with MSU as something that can't be trusted. Good luck with scheduling future quality OOC games. A total puss out. I hope we meet in the playoffs........with the foul taste from MSU being chickenshit........ the Bison will piss pound your kitties.

The cat fans rationalize this sudden switch as all about money. That may in part be the case but I suspect soemthing else. Ash and crew knew it was a bad idea to start the season getting their ass handed to them by a team from the FCS. He knew he could console his players about losing to a FBS team though.
Ash talks to his players about honor, integrity and priveledge about being a bobcat and then cops out on a sure loss to NDSU Bison. If MSEuliss and NDSU should happen to meet this season it will be ugly for the bobcats. I am sure NDSU will keep their foot to the floor full throttle to humble them
One question, with all the gun slingers Ash has recruited from Texas, does MSEuliss consider a game against SMU to be a home game?

Wow. Four f'in screens of verbiage that Alpha actually summed up best in the initial post. Does anyone really expect different of the Scats? Simply confirms everyones opinion of their program. You can put lipstick on a pig - but it is still a pig.

We learned from the best.

Ok, there is money at stake. That was part of the reason. Anyone who can't admit that is a moron. But anyone who can't admit that some self preservation wasn't a part of this decision is also a moron. NDSU loses 7 seniors last year, many of whom were not major contributors. They are loaded. No team in the country should be looking at the 2013 Bison and saying, "Wow, I can't wait to play them, it will be so much fun!" Everyone is afraid of NDSU next year, and they should be. I really wanted to see the Cats play them. I was pissed about the change. I know that the Cats being "pussies" was probably a part of it. I am sorry for your loss. A victory over the Cats likely would have been a great feather in your cap next fell. However, all of this does not mean MSU is an institution without integrity. A few people in high places made the call, and the football program will likely suffer in the long run. But the University and most of its fans are not without integrity. I would think that this principle would be readily understood on a UM forum.

Yes, Montana State honored their end of the contract. Much the same way Savannah State honored their contract with UNI last year and pulled out late to play Oklahoma, thus forcing UNI to scramble and schedule a D2. Is your athletic department in that horrible of shape that you have to run it like Savannah State? Savannah State is the example of how your AD thinks he should run your program?

I got nothin against Cat fans I've run into online, your AD I do. But you guys do know that this is bad PR and you'll be hearing about this for a long time on messageboards. Ask UNI fans about Savannah State, they haven't forgotten that screw job.

This has nothing to do with honor and integrity. It's about a legal contract that both schools agreed to. MSU honored the contract terms. Like was mentioned, the lifeblood of any program is money and recruting. This was a smart move by the Cats as they get more money and it will help recruiting. your logic on here of not playing NDSU because they are to tough is stupid. The Cats are now playing an stronger FBS team.

Meanwhile you Griz fans ignore the games you guys have pulled out of. Talk about integrity. You can't be honest about your own program.

I know your all looking forward to watching the Griz beat up on Panhandle State!

I agree with 33 that it is a smart move for the cats. After all getting totally embarrassed In Fargo to start the season is something the cats probably would not be able to handle.
I am upset because I had banked the money from my bets on NDSU. I wonder if Ash would compensate me out of the money they say is the reason for the change?

Nothing to do with money or recruiting - has everything to do with the 2013 playoffs. Kittens are trying to position themselves for the playoffs and a loss to NDSU won't help. I hope the players see this for what it is - that the AD and coaches don't have much faith in them to win the game. Simple as that.

Just get MSU in our playoff bracket, that is all I ask. Not so the game can actually be played, but so I can see 60 minute beatdown of epic proportions. The one thing that I do thank Mt State for, they just game our team some extra motivation for 2013. There will be no complacancy. Not a bad thing prior to a matchup with K-State and a run for a 3rd title.

What is really hard to understand is how any AD and coach could have less integrity. NDSU played in bozeman in 2005, and give MSU every opportunity to get this game on their schedule, on their own terms, then this after a backout in 2007? Really bad folks, really bad.

Also, wasn't this the year that MSU has been pointing to as "Their year"? I guess we have an AD with no integrity, and a coach who is a pussy.

This just wreaks of the stuff Bobcat fans used to chastise the Griz about not too long ago. Last year the Cats have a major cupcake schedule (didn't they beat Wibaux by like 30 though?) and now a buyout branded a "smart move for the program" that oozes with the scent of wimp. I love it!

Dear Bison,

We Don't think we have a prayer in Fargo so we will use the contract loophole right meow.

Sincerely,

Kittynation

Go ahead and call me a hypocrite, but I was vocally ashamed every time the Griz pulled this stunt. Can we get the game? Hell, we went to App last year.
