Wow. Four f'in screens of verbiage that Alpha actually summed up best in the initial post. Does anyone really expect different of the Scats? Simply confirms everyones opinion of their program. You can put lipstick on a pig - but it is still a pig.

We learned from the best.

It is not my fault you consider Alpha your teacher and he considers you his b::ch.

There is a major difference in the Griz buyouts from this one. The Griz bought out weaker opponents that they would have beaten for a major payday (e.g., Iowa $700 M). The Cats buy out a certain loss for a payday probably half that. Clearly different motivations.

Clearly. And will any of this help you guys beat the Cats in Bozeman this year?

Cue the "almost wins" and "only 16 points. . . " blather justifying losses in Missoula. And yes, the Griz blew out the Cats at home last year. But why does the NDSU game have anything to do with it this year?

A victory over the Cats likely would have been a great feather in your cap next fell.
Why? What have the Cats ever done to impress NDSU fans?
Not sure if beating them is impressive or not. They are 21-13 all time against NDSU. It would be chiken shit of them to buy out that game, if they want national respect at least.

Gee, the way you hypocrites sound on here, there is no reason for anyone to play NDSU this year. According to you all, they are invinceable and will just slaughter everyone. Why are they even playing the games?

Your programs have withdrawn from games to further the interest of your own school. You are being true hypocrites. Your ADs would do the same thing if it resulted in more money and would have a great positive impact on recruting. If your AD did not do that, he would not be doing his job. Last time I looked, an AD's first responsibility is to do what benefits a program most.

I guess this makes all you mental midgets out there very proud that this gives you an excuse to foment more hate. Statler and Waldorf just love to hate. Totally pathetic!

Hypocrites? We were perpetually chided by Cat fans for the very same thing your program just did Mr. Pot. It was chicken"spit" when the Griz did it, and it's chicken"spit" now. Not the move of a wanna be Champion, and sad if it's what benefits your program most. Yes, we've done this and it's embarassing. Anything short of beating SMU (unlikely, but possible) makes you look like scaredy cats.

I'm curious why you haven't started 19 separate threads about "arrogance" after bs33 predicted the cats will beat smu, as you've done with your freaky-weird obssesion with GRIZ fans predicting they'd beat Wisconsin in BB last year.

FWIW, I'm fine with what the cats did here. Same as I was fine with the Griz doing the same thing in the interest of money. That's what it's all about. I do find irorny (although no surprise) in the fact that many of those most ardently in support here were just as adament in ripping the GRIZ for doing it.

Cringer as a Cat fan I could care less about what you think. Yes, as a fan I was looking forward to playing NDSU. I am totally disappointed we are not. However, I can totally understand this move as it benefits the program money wise now and in the future with recruiting. Sometimes unpopular decisions have to be made for the overall good of the program. I view that as good leadership.

Maybe if you guys had better leadership you wouldn't be in the mess your in now with NCAA & DOJ investigations, loss of an AD and good coach.

I don't sugarcoat or disagree with your comments about our problems, however, that is NOT the conversation. The Griz having systemic problems justifies MSU's actions how? "Quick, while the Griz need systemic change pull a move we criticized them for within the last ten years!"

Sorry for your disappointment, but it doesn't negate the "hypocats" who chastised us for doing the very same thing. But thanks for the tips on what it takes to build a top notch FCS program  someone get our A.D. on the horn.

It's not just what I think. Anywhere but Bozeman this is weak. Yes, you've pointed out the Griz have done this, and as I said then about my own team, it was an embarassing move; not you thinking we need to take notes from the Cats embarassing, but it was not our finest moment. Enjoy the cheque and all those Texas recruits you will get from playing SMU. Make sure to bring enough letter's of intent with you on the plane.

Crinnger, I don't think the Griz AD cared about your embarassment. His job was to do what is best for the program. No different with the Cats AD. He doesn't care if some fans are embarassed. He is doing what is in the best interest of the program.

Fargo your whining makes it sound like the Cat game was your biggest game of the season this year. This stuff happens all the time in college football. Thats why contracts have buy out clauses. Get over it dude!

No I don't think I've ever seen a school get bought out twice by the same school for the same return game, especially not when one AD gave the other six years to figure things out. Certainly if it has ever happened I doubt the decision was made in late February when most other teams have their schedules finalized.

You are nothing but a bunch of gutless cowards and by far the most overrated program in FCS football. Enjoy recruiting Texas because you certainly won't be playing in the state come January.

Congrats MSU you probably just made $150k by playing SMU and cost NDSU 300k. We won't forget about this and nobody in our conference will either. FTC!

I think I found MSU's new mascot....

NDSU is king, Montana state are servants, the seniors on NDSU now crushed the pussycats 3 years ago, imagine what they'd do now.
NDSU should never schedule a big sky team again, if Montana doesn't want to play us next year, please say so now.

I so wish NDSU calls smu and offers to take less and go down to Dallas, NDSU doesn't lose in Dallas and smu might actually make more money off of traveling bisoNation

Montana will come to Fargo because they want to play great FCS schools, that is how great programs act. They aren't second rate like MSU, who are more concerned with making a quick buck the dirty way than seeing how they measure up vs the best in the FCS.

Very true! but I am always disappointed when it happens. I think the Hippocrates over in Bozeman need to put their tail between their legs and stfu.

For your info Fargo, the Griz has also pulled out twice on your team. Your whining is getting pathetic. Are you trying to tell me that NDSU can't get another team in now and sell the place out. They could bring in Concordia from across the line and sell the place out. This thing about your losing all this money is bogus. If this game was so crucial to you guys why did your AD agree to a contract with a buy out clause that could be exercised so late. He entered into this contract williningly. He knew that this was a possibility. Maybe you need a new AD. You talk about honor and integrity, I think you need to look at your own school and how your AD handled the FB players in the phony voting issue vs. how the women softball players were handled. Not too much integrity in that situation.

I know smart business decisions are something you have a hard time understanding.
