Brenske and WSU

You guys can love on Brenske all you want but Paulnson wasn't exactly chopped liver and neither is Grengorak!!!!

Breske's gone and he ain't taking any downgrades from where he is now, and I believe his salary as a defensive coordinator in the PAC-12 is around $325,000. I can say with certainty that any coach is looking at the next step up so the only way he could be looking back at UM is if he was unemployed with no other FBS prospects. Now that he is in the PAC-12, believe me he is only looking at PAC-12 employment or something similar. It is no coincidence to me that Pflugrad went to work at an institution in the back yard of the PAC-12 down in Utah. There's no doubt in my mind where he wants to end up.

Quit living in the past and make the best of what you have. The only chance UM will ever have to see another Breske is to find the next up and coming Mike Breske.

Well, if we can't have Breske, then how about Brenske? I hear he just as good.

He was making big bucks at Wyoming too and still ended up back at Montana. :twocents:
Plus, he LOVES Missoula.

It was a pretty big mistake though.

However, I'm not led you believe you watched the Wazzu/ASU game last night. The Cougar offense and special teams put the defense in HORRIBLE position in the first half. The Cougar O stalled out quite a few times very deep in their own territory and the Wazzu punter is ass. ASU was getting the ball usually around the 50 or closer.. short field, terrific ASU offense, you can guess what happens. Very rarely did Wazzu's D get put in a position to be successful. Offense didn't pick up a first down until the 2nd quarter or something. So no, the D didn't get rolled, rather, the offense and punting put them in bad spots. Plus, and this one's on Breske, but his team couldn't tackle.. a lot of broken tackles in that game. I was hoping to see a good game last night.. that was really disappointing from Leach's offense. Halliday throwing long on 3rd and 6 isn't a smart play call usually, and his accuracy wasn't great.

Really a big mistake? Mistyping one letter on a smart phone. Sometimes you frickin grammar police are a joke. Ease off, it's a forum not a thesis.
You did it more than once, dude.

He was let go when Joe Glenn was (big mistake) then went to NDSU.. then to Montana.

Like I said. You look at a lot more "opportunities" when you're unemployed and your last engagement ended with an involuntary termination.

Bottom line, coaching is a profession where you move up or move out. If you flop at a higher level you can lower your sights go back to something you can handle at a lower level, if you love the profession. Breske is in a position that he can leverage to greater opportunity and anyone with his track record is looking at the next step up. Now if Montana upped the HC Salary to the $400,000 ball park and adjusted all assistants accordingly, that changes the equation entirely.

Leech is doing a great job at WSU they will be very solid next year. They beat USC at home and they are competitive now each week. That is a big step up from where they have been the last decade. Face it, Leech is a winner and he is a proven quantity that builds teams....he doesn't maintain them.

I was wondering how long this thread would go before somebody would have brought up Haunck coming back?
