The broadcast games are not going to give any midmajor teams more "exposure" than they would normally have. Nobody is going to watch these immortal showdowns between West Dakota School for the Blind and South East Oklahoma Baptist unless they're already fans.This whole deal should be on that list of things people hate about ESPN.[/i]

I can't really agree with ya there Mung. I know in past seasons when flipping through the channels if I found a BB game between a couple teams I don't know a lot about, I'd usually watch it if there wasn't anything else on that I reaaally wanted to see. I'm sure other people are the same way too..just flipping through the channels to see what's on, and then finding a decent BB game to watch. Being on ESPN definitely gives the teams more exposure.

Pretty darn good exposure if the game is between 6pm and 10pm.

Other times, may not be so good exposure.

By "exposure", I was referring to the argument that it's good for recruitment. I think Krysko's network, our facility/school quality and team record will dwarf any marginal gain in recognition from a third-tier broadcast.

Remember, when ignorant Eastcoasters see UM teams on TV they often wonder how that city in upstate New York got a university all of a sudden.

But if anyone wants to visit our secret Santas here's a link to their board: http://www.orusports.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=653

They seem as excited about the match as us.

Oral Roberts 12-9 (7-2) overall.

Noteable wins;

Beat USC - 68-48
Beat No. Colorado 79-66
Beat conference leader IUPUI 86-76

Other "interesting" games;

Lost to #12 Oklahoma 81-73
Lost to Utah St twice 72-67 / 65-64
Lost to Marquette 73-70
Lost to Western Ill 70-65

Looks like decent opponent who plays a lot of their matchups close

This is bullshit. We have enough to worry about during conference season without having to play this irrelevent, high risk/low reward game against Blowjob Roberts. I'm in a bad mood now.

While ORU may be an "unknown", you will definitely know who they are after the game. It will be a tough game for the Griz. ORU has some serious talent. If their guards are on target the Griz may be in serious trouble because I know you won't be able to stop Caleb Green.

Not that comparative scores are worth anything:

ORU spanked Tulsa who beat NAU (on the road) who beat the Griz

When I made my initial post, I didn't realize that the game was televised nationally. If that is true, then I guess that is something.

I have no doubt that Oral is a good team. It just sucks to have to switch gears from conference play when we are trying to win this thing. If we were getting a chance to play a high profile team, I think it would be great. Besides the TV, I am struggling to locate the upside to this matchup (particularly when we have to play it again on the road next year).

Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

I'm already giggling at the chants that a team with "Oral" in its name will draw from our pep band.
