Nope. No failure at all. Delaney came into a tough situation, much moreso that Stitt. Delaney didn't have JJ, who was charged in early August that year and not allowed to play. Don't think any of the other qb's on the roster had any experience at all. Think that's right. With JJ, Delaney would have made the playoffs. I did a game by game analysis one time, showing the multiple other games UM would have won with JJ. Delaney made the playoffs the next 2 years and beat the Cats, finishing the season ranked no. 12 the last year, and no. 8 the prior year. Wish the Griz had beaten Coastal, but Coastal was a very good team and played their best game of the season (according to my team doctor buddy who came to the game). I'm fine with the Delaney years.
Did Delaney beat SDSU,NDSU,UNI,or EWU while he was here??? Can't remember??
Mick came in and righted the ship good on him. I liked Mick too. I just think Stitt has done a damn fine job considering he has not had a starting QB all year any of his three years. Beat Nau with 4th string QB.
His offense is producing in a big way and Defense seems to have turned the corner.
Next year Montana could be seeded going in to the playoffs and people want to blow everything up and start over.
In Delaney's last 2 seasons, the team lost only to Wyo., NDSU, EWU (3), Coastal, NAU, and CP.
Perhaps some people want to get a new coach, but I believe most people just want wins over the Cats (not 2 losses in a row), conference championships or at least being in the mix, the team to make the playoffs (not home for Thanksgiving 2 years in a row), and more wins. While a win over the Cats and playoffs may not be required for a new contract, Haslam will be taking huge heat if the Griz don't beat the Cats. I think the Griz have a better team and will win, but that is not assured. I just don't see the Cats backing down, especially after last year's game and how they have played at times this season. It's a rivalry game. Anything can happen. I would hope the Griz have a better plan to stop the Cat O this year. Assume they will.
