BigSky Conference Possible Playoff Teams

And anybody complaining about officiating and then dredging up the Cats\Weber game, please. That was a brutally one sided game in terms of the refs, Bobcats dominated that game. Was easy to see through rose colored glasses from the stands.

I didn't think the Cats dominated the Weber game. I thought the Cats were fortunate to win it. Not lucky, fortunate.

Guess it depends on the definition. Obviously the score was close. And they had far fewer penalties than we did which is good by them. And 11 more passing yards; they got us there. Nearly every other measurable stat the Cats had them beat. 487 yards to 338. 347 yards rushing to 187. Higher completion percentage, more yards per pass, obviously more yards per rush. Turnovers a wash. Dominated time of possession 38 minutes to 22.

Imagine these identical stats occur in the Brawl in your favor. I'm wondering if you wouldn't think that you essentially dominated the game.

I think we'll get another crack at Weber which I think both fanbases would love.

Like when someone wins a million lottery? Like when the Weber snapper hikes it over the punter’s head 4 times?

It's like when the Cat's were extremely well prepared going into this game and out performed Weber State and took advantage of their opportunities. The result is they won the game!

The bottom line is the Cat's won the game. That is what counts. It was a hard fought game between two very good teams. I think any team is fortunate when they win a game.

3d down conversion rates were 4-14 for Weber, and 3-13 for Cats. Slight advantage Weber.

Punt returns: Weber 3-91 and 1 TD. Cats 0 yards.

KO return average: Weber 46.7 and 1 TD. Cats 24.4.

FG's: Weber 1-1. Cats 0-1.

Weber had a 2-pt conversion.

Weber lost a number, and Cats had an interception.

And, again, the 4 bad punt snaps and safeties that Weber gave the Cats.

It makes me laugh when I see Cat posters saying that KO/punt returns were in the luck category for Weber.

The thing that impressed me the most is when the long snapper snapped it out of the end zone four times. The Bobs were extremely well-prepared to receive those 8 points and the ball each of those four times to truly dominate the Weebs by 5 points in Bozeman. The dominating performance sent shockwaves around a nearly 2-mile radius. Multiple truckers have reported hearing ESGGCG chants when they passed through on the 90.

Ya I don't think those returns were lucky. I think there was a blatant missed call on the 2nd one and it shouldn't have happened. But Big Sky officials are terrible. I certainly won't email the powers that be and whine that they cost us on that one. It's par for the course.

3rd downs were 4-14 for Weber and 4-13 for the Cats on the stats I saw. But that's grasping at straws. Our 4th down conversion was also better.

Regardless, I think the point you were making about dominating Weber is a tad bit overblown when you beat them by 5 and they spotted you 8 and 4 free possessions.

You can nit pick stats all you want. A win is a win. The Cats are now 7-1 and undefeated in Conference play. Yes, one return that Weber got was luck as the officials missed a blatant block in the back. The other was just poor play by the Cats. The result is that both teams gave up points on special teams, the Cats 14 and Weber 8.

Sometimes you have to sit back and just wonder what goes through their heads sometimes… you know they’re actually 5 and (upset-bad ref call- back up QB). They aren’t a true 5-3 as Google would suggest. It’s different. It’s cooler.

You said the Cats dominated, and dominated the stats. The Cats didn't dominate or dominate the stats. Again, they were fortunate to win. A block in the back is a judgment call and can't be reviewed. Several of the Griz calls were blatant mistakes, and should have been reversed. The Griz are going to kick the Cats asses again this year, just like last year, is my view.

See what CDA just said about the Cats' "domination".

Maybe domination is the wrong word, but if you would have been there you would have understood what we're saying. It was such a strange game (Strangest football game I've ever seen, for sure in the first half anyway), but it never really felt like the Cats would actually lose. Remember when the griz used to feel that way in games? Also, offensive TDs scored on Weber this year:

Western Oregon - 0
Utah State - 0
Utah Tech - 2
UC Davis - 1
EWE - 2
PSU - 1
Montana State - 5
montana - 1

Let me guess - with your one FCS caliber QB playing you get 6 TDs?

You forgot one very obscure stat.... the one dictating the Won/Loss after the game.... an ugly win is still a win....

Wins/losses weren't the topic. It was whether the Cats dominated Weber. They didn't. You may not know enough about football to understand that. It wasn't any ugly win; it was a nice win.

I not one time said the Cats dominated. I was responding to your post that said they didn’t. And I said it depends on the definition. We had more rushing yards, total yards, more yards per run, more yards per pass, higher 3rd down conversion, higher 4th down conversion, time of possession by a mile, and most importantly, the final score.

Good news for me is it doesn’t matter what people call it. We beat a very good Weber team and are set up wonderfully for November 19th and beyond. What I think or any other fans think doesn’t matter. We’ll see how our squads perform going forward.

I would say the Cat offense shredded the Weber defense with just under 500 yds. That aspect of the game I would say is dominating. The Weber defense has been pretty stingy this season, especially against the run.

The Cats had good O, but Weber would likely have had a bunch more if they hadn't had the 2 returns for TD's. Obviously, they lost a possession after each of those returns. The Cats were down in the first half under 59 second to go. Then were up in the second half.

Not only did they lose a possession, but in essence MSU also GAINED a possession with no time running off the clock, which increases the amount of time they held the ball…
