Big Sky's next move

Maybe the conference should skip the automatic playoff bid and just, as a requirement for membership, expect teams to get into the playoffs on wins and strength of schedule.
I know that scheduling is tough, but when the choice is haveing a never good conference teamm, or occasionally scheduling a team better than your worst conference commitment, I think the second option is better.
See this is the problem I have with posts like this. Everybody thinks that bad teams are unique to the Big Sky. Guess what? There's bad teams in every conference. You think the other SEC schools like having Vanderbilt and Missouri in the conference? Do the other Big Ten teams like having Rutgers and Northwestern in the league? No they don't and they bitch about them constantly but that's how college sport work. There's bad teams in every league. Get over it.

What if... (For Football only) In 2027/28
These schools formed a Football only conference
NDSU
SDSU
MSU
UM
USD
UND
Idaho
Weber State
(one other School)

In 2029/30
They move up to (what now is called ) FBS as an entire conference... They would forever be G5, but there is a STRONG CHANCE that, by then, there would be a playoff for that level. #snowbelt

You're too late. The Snow Belt Conference already has a commissioner.

They would have to go all in for all sports, and that still doesn't give them a path to become a FBS conference.

Why would they? They are already at the top level of D-1 in every other sport. Just a "What If"... Sparking debate and conversation. It's a LONG offseason for us all. Question, would it be easier to move an entire conference up, than just one school looking for a home? These schools would already have a home, and proven winning (for most) at the level they are at... More winning than most of the FCS schools wanting to move up.

I’m beginning to believe that the scats aren’t really copycats, but have the computing speed of an old IBM that’s maxed out on RAM and it just takes them forever to come to the same conclusion that the rest of the world did ages ago. We discussed this ad nauseam.

Kent answered it earlier in the offseason and you can’t just make a conference out of thin air in the NCAA. If you did you wouldn’t have access to championships.

Because do you think the BSC exists if those schools take their football and leave? To be a full member of the BSC you must sponsor football as a BSC sport, they would essentially be leaving. It would force the other schools to make a move. No, it is not easier to move an entire conference to FBS.

Not sure the FCS will exist in 10 years. So movement will either be up or down. Will these schools move up or down? If up, then it would need to be in a "G5" conference. Why not have it be the "Snowbelt". (FYI I love the snowbelt stuff that the guy in Denver posts)

I don't believe FCS will exist, but I also don't think forming a new football conference now makes the transition any different for UM or MSU moving forward. I think the FCS conferences are going to be split with schools moving in different directions.

Nope. Never said bad teams were unique to the Big Sky. Turn the rant off, old man.
