Big Sky's next move

As much as I HATE having 12 football teams in the conference and would much rather have 9 for a round-robin to determine a true conference champ, I agree that if we go grab another program, I'd rather it be Utah Tech than Southern Utah. I just have a sour taste from SUU saying "peace out, Big Sky" and joining the WAC with the "hope" of going to the FBS in the next couple of years when the WAC's stated goal was to "move up as a conference".

Tarleton seems pretty short sighted with their aspirations to be FBS and they do have nice facilities and some $$$ support. It would be nice to have a footprint down into Texas from a recruiting standpoint. Trading Texas for California might be nice for some of our contingent as well.
Man that would cause issues in my house. My wife is a TSU alumnus, and two of her brothers played there. That's big time family division for me, but it sure would be fun beating them every year. I hear non-stop trash about how great "Texas" football is.

Psssh Utah Tech? You mean Dixie State right? You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

No way in hell would the programs that cry about traveling to Montana agree to flying any further.

Maybe one of the D 2 schools in Colorado, or Central Washington would like to park in the Big Sky before going FBS.

I see what you did there...

Maybe the conference should skip the automatic playoff bid and just, as a requirement for membership, expect teams to get into the playoffs on wins and strength of schedule.
I know that scheduling is tough, but when the choice is haveing a never good conference teamm, or occasionally scheduling a team better than your worst conference commitment, I think the second option is better.

See Kem the problem is that you have tunnel vision and you only care about Football. If you paid attention to other sports, you'd see the importance of needing to add another team. It'd be good to broaden your horizons a little bit.
Agreed. Clearly the answer to the question "does the bsc need to add a team?" is "yes".

The better question, it seems to me, is "but does UM need to be in a conference with those teams?", and the clear answer to that is "Hellllllll NOOOOOOO!!!!"

So what UM sports do you think would get into the post season without an automatic bid?
