Another off the radar commitment. Former Cal-Baptist recruit. BIG DUDE.

Once again EWU losing half their freaking roster….but I will never write them off again.

With the portal...you just can't...

5 of EWU's top 7 are still on the roster, at least as of today....

Venters was the only notable transfer, Angelo graduated...both will be big losses. But if there is one thing Eastern has proven, its that they can replace their talent pretty quick, we will see...

If EWU can stop any further transfers, they should be really good again next year...emphasis on the IF

Osobor and Ford III in the portal now for MSU. That is half of their remaining roster gone to places out in the ether.

MSU committed to going outside the program for their next hire and you hope they get this right. I think 2 or 3 of those guys stay at MSU if they hire either of the two assistants.

Not sure if I understand the logic, because as the portal period winds down, you hope whomever the new guy is they are like SS/PSU last year bringing guys with them.

Well that sucks! Probably opened up the door for Sawyer to get in to the program!

Weber got their guy and is done in the portal.

Weber State doing work in the portal today. Add a much needed piece on the wing/guard in Blaise Threatt and just picked up a verbal from Maryland P Arnaud Revaz.

On paper at this moment, likely the biggest winners of the transfer portal in that they have lost less and gained more. Unless Verplanken or Jones somehow depart late, this is a far more complete team than WSU had last year.

I suspect that the big man from Maryland is a walk on, due to us being out of grants. He may be a provisional thing and get a grant if Dillon Jones gets a good enough pro offer. I'm just not sure about that one. He was a garbage time player for Maryland. Threatt looks like the real deal, a smaller version of Dillon Jones, with a little Verplancken trown in for good measure. Dillon is getting workouts with NBA scouts this summer.

Here is the article on the big man.

There are close to 30 scholarship openings left in the BSC. Many teams are scrambling to fill their rosters. There are still a lot of high quality prospects left in the portal and some of those will fall to BSC teams. If you listen closely, you can hear doors closing on D1 basketball programs accross the country. Some very good players will drop to BSC teams. There are also some good players still available in the HS ranks. The only reason I am saying this is because it makes it really hard to predict who might be good next year. Although, I think its pretty clear that UM, WSU, and EWU are looking good at this juncture, based on returning players and new additions.

I think the NCAA instituted a deadline for filling rosters this year, with guidelines for exceptions. I think it is July 1st when things need to be finalized. We've still got a few more months of this craziness. I'm sort of glad that Weber seems to be finished for now. :thumb:

Another West VA transfer:

" he commitment of top transfer guard Kerr Kriisa.

The former Arizona Wildcat averaged 9.9 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 37% from the field and 36% from three-point land. He led the PAC 12 Conference in assists this past season and finished 2nd the year prior, notching 4.7 assists per game."

"Senior Editor/Publisher of Wildcat Authority and beat writer for the Arizona Wildcats said today that he believes Kriisa received a deal worth $500,000 to play for the Mountaineers."

[Also gets a car and off-campus housing.]

[Maybe only a quarter million for Battle.]

West Virginia has had 3 or 4 really good transfers in the last couple weeks. They may make noise next year.

I'm right with you there.

I'm really happy with Weber picking this young man up. He checks all the boxes, takes his game seriously, hangs out in the gym, and looks to improve himself every day. He fits our team very well. I feel that his addition puts us in a great position to challenge for the BSC championship. With Blaise and the other additions, we have improved our length, shooting, ball handling, and depth at every position. With only two seniors on the team next year, we will still be young, but with much more experience than last year. :coffee:
