We had a lot of back-ups in last November 20. That worked out pretty well for us. You were petty silent after that one.

There may actually be a hidden long-term benefit here. More and more people are realizing that UM has far, far, far outgrown this POS lowest common denominator conference, and are supporting leaving it. If you read the replies to this ridiculous yet fully predictable response from the league, this may very well be the spark that lights the fire. I hope Mr. Wistrcill enjoys leading a conference without its cash cow.

Having now seen the calls that you all are melting down over, I would say that the officiating crew got it as right as they possibly could. There is no way that officials see everything that goes on in a game with 22 players on the field. That is one of the reasons for having the replay booth for some calls. Even with the replay booth it is sometimes not 100%. That is why, by rule, the call on the field stands when there is not clear proof that the call on the field was incorrect. UM did not lose by some officials call. they lost by not stopping Sac when they needed to :lol: and by not scoring when they needed to. :thumb:

Seems like UM fans have had it their way for so long that they totally melt down when the ball doesn't bounce their way. Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and then think about it a bit.

I will agree with you that the Griz left points on the field on Saturday, without question, but you're absolutely wrong about the Griz "not stopping Sac when they needed to." That's exactly what they did on that 4th down play that the officials ruled a catch. The Griz defense did stop Sac State when they needed to, but the officials blew the call and it had a direct impact on the outcome of the game. The call on the field was so obviously wrong and there was clear video evidence of it - at least as much video evidence as was used to overturn the earlier incomplete call into a touchdown for the Griz.

An open letter to Commissioner Wistrcill:

All us Griz fans know the game with Sac State is over. The record books will show that Sac won and the Griz lost. That is a fact and it can't be changed. I'm writing to comment on your "tweet" which, in my opinion, was very disrespectful to Griz fans who have an extremely legitimate concern over a blown call near the end of that game. You dismissed these concerns with a "tweet" basically suggesting that the refs didn't have enough camera angles to get the call right. Just in case you didn't know, not even the NFL has 17 camera angles. However, in this case, getting the call right didn't require 17 camera angles. All the camera angles that ESPN had showed the receiver was out of bounds when he caught the ball. Clearly out of bounds. If you looked at the replays, and I certainly expect that you did, you know the call was wrong. The correct response from you is not some meaningless "tweet" denying the existence of a problem. The correct response would be a statement from your office admitting the refs got that call wrong and pledging, on behalf of the conference, to do additional training with the officials to try to ensure that such an egregious mistake does not occur again. To simply blow us off, as you did, is a guarantee that the argument will go on and on with you, rather than the ref who blew the call, as the bad guy. Unless you view it as part of your job description to take the bullet for incompetent refs, I can't imagine why you would want that.

Obviously this is egriz and sanity is not a requirement to post here...

I really didn't think that anything was ever going to come from the furor over how the BSC reviews plays and the protocols. Of all the outcomes, Wistrcills admitting the officiating crew made mistakes was pretty low on my potential outcomes list. Not a good look for a conference that already has a hard time getting good officiating in multiple sports. Pretty high on my list of outcomes? Predictable talking head response from the rest of the conference on their general disdain for Griz fans and opposing fan's desire to stoke that anger.

He's (Wistrcill) a company man and he's not going to crap all over his product. If the level of national attention to how badly that was handled in the review process gets them to focus on how to make the review process better then I am all for it. I'll stand behind my initial understanding of how they observe and initiate the review process and not his claim of 17 cameras.

The point of review is to get disputed calls right. That is the issue that needs to be addressed going forward, because there are a dozen or so of these calls a year in the conference and too many of them can't be confirmed or overturned for "not enough evidence." If the process really is to rubber stamp the call on the field, and not get it right, I'd rather just take the human error of it and move on.
