better hire? montana or youngstown state

Pelini will immediately improve recruiting and toughness at YSU. Assuming he sticks around for a couple of years, that's a good hire.

Likewise, the new guy at MO State, Steckel, is a great hire for them, with some good name recognition and street credit in the state. Another very good hire.

Stitt . . . . Who? Coming from a lower level, we'll see.

I agree with your first two paragraphs, but do some homework before you say "who" on Stitt in regards to name recognition and national respect he has gained. It is a known fact all the FBS (o-coordinator) and FCS head coaching opportunities he has had in last 5 years. Whether he gets it done for Griz, who knows, but he is not a no name as you assume. Kleiman was a DB coach for Bison not to many years before he was hired as head guy and many who did their research knew he would succeed when you dug into his coaching experience, respect in industry, etc. Stitt deserves the same opportunity.

Not being funny here....but who is Kleiman? Never heard of him.

edit: Googled the name....guess he means Chris Kleiman, head coach at NDSU. Never heard of him until I read this post...or if I had I forgot (and no I never saw the NDSU game). But then to I typically don't follow other teams as I dont care.

Do a Google search for "Youngstown + Mafia. " It'll tell you all you need to know about the city and its hometown boy Pelini who are a perfect match for each other.

And, oh yeah, you'll find a link to "America's Fastest Shrinking City: The Story of Youngstown"

Can you say armpit?
I went to the NDSU vs. Youngstown game last year. Y-town is a shit hole. Nice high rise prison a few blocks south of the stadium. Abandoned factories litter the area. Attached is a pic from their tailgate lot. The stadium was pretty nice for fcs.

Could be worse, it could be a town like Fargo or something. I've also been to Youngstown, although not in about 10 years. Nothing wrong with the town, its got character - and is like so many other cities in that region up into New England.

Depressed economies, and abandoned factories does not make a town a bad thing. Some great country to visit in the area. I spent a lot of time working in PA a few years ago, and that entire region has towns like that.

I have no interest in it....didnt even know or care when it was. Maybe I will next year. :)

Nebraska's fan base is no different than the Griz base. Who here would be happy with winning 9 games every year and getting knocked off in the first round of the playoffs? Pelini might have made the cut if he was willing to fire his offensive coordinator. The last five years they have steadly been on the decline from being ranked 16th to 27th. It was time for a change. Being the defensive guru he just needed someone to call the offensive side of things. His loyality to his staff and stubborn demeanor is what cost him his job. Then add in he could never win the big one and that is unacceptable at Nebraksa AND here too! Given the fact that the Huskers are going to pay him 7 mill left on his contract says he wore out his welcome. I only hoped they would have stepped up hired Scott Frost!

got carried away and didn't answer the question. I think in the long run our hire of Stitt will be better for the program than Youngstown's hiring of Bo. Pelini is just waiting until someone offers him a defensive coordinators' position and he'll be gone. With the Husker pay out of his contract he can be selective but needed to be in the mix at any level. Stitt will bring back some DOLA to our program and after he wins a NC unfortunately he'll move on too.

Not sure how you can come to that conclusion. Fargo has a lot going for it and two negatives which are a colder than hell winter and flooding. Landscape beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of the most productive land in the world.

I have a bad habit of not using smiley faces when I'm making a joke. I have nothing against Fargo either....except the movie. :) I've lived in Butte and Alaska, cold is not a factor....the wind however.....

Do you know how many of your players are ag science majors? They don't give a shit about your productive land.

Hauck lost more games to the Bobcats than any Griz coach not named Delaney in the last 28 years.

But then to he played them more.

Coach Stitt has a TShirt and the Fly Sweep and does not piss off ADs
and college presidents, Pellini just wins football games.

If Klieman had been brought in from a lower level of football, I'd feel the same way as I did about Stitt. Check your facts, Klieman was the DC (not DB coach) on two consecutive NC teams with the top rated defense in the FCS, and was involved in recruiting a lot of the players on the current team. Klieman was the DB coach on the 2011 NC team for the DC that left NDSU for USC, the one in CA . . . before getting the DC job.

Klieman was a easy choice, and easy to get behind as a fan.

Klieman is also riding the coat tail of Bohl using Bohl's players. We'll see how good Klieman is in a few years once Bohl's recruits are out of the system. I'm sure Klieman is very good, but he's currently enjoying success left behind from Bohl.

I didn't say anything factually wrong. Read what I said again, pretty close to what you stated - just detailed out more as he was the DB coach 3 years before he was the head guy. I don't get your argument as I was defending him as a hire.
