Pelini's personality was not a good fit for many Nebraska fans. He clashed with too many influential people involved with the Husker program. He is a much better fit back at Youngstown. I am sure he will do great and get an opportunity at another FBS/BCS school within 5 years.

I like Pelini as a head coach. Unfortunately, Nebraska was a bad marriage for him.

As for Stitt, the potential upside of his hiring intrigues me. The more I hear and learn about him, the more impressed I am. Personality wise, from what I hear, he will be a great fit at Montana. I am not worried of him having his mouth get him in trouble with anyone, or putting the program under the spot light. He seems pretty solid in community and media relations. If and when he does have something to be said, it will be done so behind closed doors and not made public.

Only time will tell who is the better hire. I feel both will be great hires. without me knowing the Youngstown culture, environment etc. It is hard further evaluate and compare the 2 hires. Each hire does make sense for each program.

My gut feeling, which is influenced with some bias, tells me Stitt's hiring will be considered better when all is said and done.
The fans feelings should never have anything to do with who is hired or fired. If that is true, Nebraska never deserves to be good ever again
Uuuh, who pays the bills?

A movie director -- which, in the end, is what a HC is -- who failed to put out films that pleased "the fans" would soon be out of work. That may seem unfair, but big-time college football now competes as part of the "entertainment" industry ... and that's how it works.

Our daughter was accepted at both CSM and Tech for graduate school -- she chose Tech.
Tech mines are both great choices. Mines is very pricey for a nonresident
Yeah, just a bit. :D :o
In-state tuition :$14,790
Out-of-state: $31,470

CSM Link: http://finaid.mines.edu/Cost-of-Attendance-Undergraduate
Costs are quite a bit different for graduate students. Tech gave her a full-ride, CSM didn't.

MT Tech is a good school, especially if your daughter wants to find a job after college. For that it is better than UM.

Just a funny thought  : Sons who have to return to "live in their parents' basement" are slammed (unfairly, IMO, given current economic realities) as failures. Daughters somehow escape the bad-mouthing. Interesting?

Pelini is a loud mouth Italian that doesn't think before he speaks and is obviously way over rated as a defensive mind.

He is an ass. Competitive fire is one thing. Being an idiot is another. He had a couple of good years as a coordinator there. He never fit in there. I think he is a good coordinator who will never be a good head coach. As a Husker fan, I was really glad to see him go.
He bad mouthed one of the best fan bases in the country. He could have used the high expectations as an advantage in recruiting and player/coach motivation but chose to take criticism personally instead of constructively.

Unless oil turns around.....its becoming a bloodbath out here. I'm hearing insane numbers of rigs that are going to be laid up, and already know dozens that have loss jobs.

If oil is still dropping by March, Texas, Oklahoma and North Dakota will all be headed into major recessions. If Middle East oil can put the the shale oil/fracking out of business, it will take a years to get it back up and running.

Had a senior oil/gas executive in my lab today, and first thing out of his mouth is we need a 30% cut across the board to keep this rig going, and we all must do our part. The only way that rig can make that cut on our end is to go from 2 man service to 1 man service.

Pelini will immediately improve recruiting and toughness at YSU. Assuming he sticks around for a couple of years, that's a good hire.

Likewise, the new guy at MO State, Steckel, is a great hire for them, with some good name recognition and street credit in the state. Another very good hire.

Stitt . . . . Who? Coming from a lower level, we'll see.

Pelini was a sour grapes type of guy. I don't care for a coach like that. He was a very poor fit for the Corn Huskers. Nebraska is a great place to live. Good workers and very good people. They love football and will do far better in the future.

Apples VS Oranges is making a case for a better hire. Pelini would have been a bad choice for Montana fans, win or lose. Stitt will fit! No question we have a great coach coming in and we will get plenty of national attention with him in charge. Lots of kids will want to go to school at the U because of Stitt!

As a husker fan I see both sides. Winning is the only way especially at that level. Have to remember they fires silica at 63-7. On the other side he calls a spade a spade and an ad a c&nt... Gonna coach at Nebraska you better be in the hunt every year.

What happened to you? Eat too many paint chips? Neb AND UM? Ugh

Do a Google search for "Youngstown + Mafia. " It'll tell you all you need to know about the city and its hometown boy Pelini who are a perfect match for each other.

And, oh yeah, you'll find a link to "America's Fastest Shrinking City: The Story of Youngstown"

Can you say armpit?

I wouldn't expect you to know anything about winning and tradition, and passionate fan bases.

I went to the NDSU vs. Youngstown game last year. Y-town is a shit hole. Nice high rise prison a few blocks south of the stadium. Abandoned factories litter the area. Attached is a pic from their tailgate lot. The stadium was pretty nice for fcs.

Paint chips for you too? Explains so much.

PS: I know DG. I was just poking a little fun at the little guy. ;)

Spoken by a refugee from Youngstown West. Pot calls kettle black? Aesthetically Butte's got little on Y-town.

That's the dumbest post I've read in a while. Do really think some prep from flipity flip Wisconsin knows who your coach is? He doesn't. He probably refers to No. Dak State as the D II champ and gives it the same measured level of respect he gives the other "DII" schools recruiting him who he collectively knows as not DI football.
you're probably not his second or third choice. And you're in bum F@$#k North Dakota with a Culver's and a Scheel's and whatever dull dull dull attraction you ignorantly want to show off.
Quit grooving on the smell of your own farts, dude. Among the Giants of college football, and even the not so giants, you're known as the tallest midget. No one cares who your coach is, or who he might aspire to be -- head coach of Wyoming. Woopty do.
