WBTGF obviously you don't know shit about the game of basketball and it sounds like you wouldn't know if you were on foot or horseback so shut the hell up and find a board other than sports where you and your gay little friends can go circle jerk.

Who's that directed towards?

lol, not bad for a first post. :D

This goes to WBTGF Coach Kellers record is 610 and 180 so i would say that is pretty amazing unlike your 4 and 10 record in YMCA basketball

Am I the only one who thinks these two know and dislike each other? :o :o

I only wish i new who this mouthy bastard was WTBGF the guy who can sit and rip on people he must have some real good issues himself he is running from

on to the thread subject, I would say the best two coaches that I have played and coached against are Eric Hays and Mike Cole. They did things the right way and their teams played the best in big games. They made their stars fit into their system and they were better for it. Two legends in my mind.

Interesting that a cat fan (WLTFG) hates Keller...he has been instrumental in sending several Helena High Stars to Durham and the cats...

Being a former player of Coach Keller maybe I can bring some insight to this discussion. There is no doubt in my mind he was one of the best high-school coaches in the history of this state. He got the most out of his players, just flat out knew how to win. (610-180) From my experience, there are three reasons why people dislike him. 1. They got cut by him in High School. 2. They were soft and couldn’t take an a$$ ripping. 3. They couldn’t beat Helena High in high-school. Tell me what good coach doesn’t get accused of the previously mentioned? If any of you haters can’t handle that, maybe you should move your spectating to the Middle-School or Y.M.C.A level. Monthoops also said “They (Carroll) 'hired' him as a volunteer....he's not on the payroll. Personally I think that's the dumbest thing that Turcott has ever done.” Yea…pretty dumb seeings how they’re sitting on top of the league with only one real conference test (vs. Western) left. How many people out there can say they quit their day job, to volunteer doing the same thing, at a lower status (volunteer assistant) elsewhere? As for the question at hand, the toughest coaches we played against when I played were definitely Eric Hays from Hellgate, and Mike Cole from Bozeman. I also think Thatcher is presently doing a fine job in Butte. With the success those two have had in Missoula and Bozeman, they still haven’t put out as many college players the last 5, 6, 7 years than Steve Keller- something to think about.

WOW, WOW, WOW....'monthoops' said WHAT?! What did 'monthoops say??? You better go back and check these posts, and correct what needs correctin'.

Just to clarify- WBTFG is not who guest thinks. That user name is a bunch of bullsh** and in no way have i even participated in this thread- until I get called out. Whoever this person is- and I have my suspicions- why not get ahold of me first like a man. I alreay PMed you and gave you my phone number. I will stray away from calling you out on a public forum, but let it be known that I feel the whole situation of old is water under the bridge and I will let all of this slide off of my back- you got to grow up man and realize that my family might not be the only ones who have ever had a problem with Coach Keller, and by-the-way, I have never questioned his X's and O's when talking about coaching basketball.

monhoops-my apologizies, this is the first time i've posted on this site and got you confused with that other wbtg whatever a$$hole.

So sweetwyne do you feel silly now being critical of the officials and guess what you had no idea what you were talking about.

If we are bringing coaches of the past into the arguement you have to say Mike McKlane (sp?) from CMR. He won 4 state championships in five seasons, including three in a row. He got the MOST of his players every season. Last season, with no outstanding players just solid players who would've been role players on all of the other state tourney teams last season, yet they only lost one game all season and took the championship. It might have been 5 out of 5 if he wouldn't of had to deal with egos like Hartman, Goodmen, Leaf and Danelson on one team, combined with a stacked Bozeman team that went 23-0. I guess in a round about way that was a vote for Mike Cole too??

Wow!! There are a lot of tempers flying around here. I have known Steve and his kids for about 18 years. He is hard charging coach. His personal life is not what is on the table here so I will leave that out. But as far as his coaching ability goes it is top notch. Not one time during my time in high shool were the Bengals not ranked number 1 in the state going into tournament play just to fall short at the end. His regular season record is untouchable but it was the post season record that had me puzzled. Some people that played for him didn't like him because he was hard, but that is what a coach should be. If you want a coach is sensitive to your kids needs then they should play Y ball and not play for a team that competed for the state title year in and year out. It was a sad day for Helena High basketball when he quit. Lets face it HHS only claim to fame in this state is basketball. It hasn't been until the past 9 years that they even competed in football in that is greatly attributed to the former Griz QB Tony Arnston.

One more thing who ever the person is that has the name ihatedoubeks needs to really think about changing this. If this is refering to the family in Helena it makes me a little angry. It is not appropriate to bash people on a public message board and use their name. If this is the same family I am thinking of they are some of the best people I ever new growing up and they raised some damn fine kids, even if one of them is a cat fan.

the best coach in missoula is by far sampson. one brillian example is what he did with trevor morris. when you saw morris play last year he would often make a turnover/or shoot a bad pass and he would literally watch his defender drive down and shoot a lay up. morris has improved a ton last year just because of his increased participation. on the other hand i would have to give it to fischer with worste in the west mainly based on his performance with the sentinel players last year. he by far had the most talented team and couldnt even pull out a third or fourth. it disappointed me to see them loose out in two, even though i am a bigsky fan.
