I think OSU goes for a bigger splash than Baldwin. I think more Justin Wilcox D coordinator at USC. Wilcox was in running for the UDub job but was not selected. He then went to SC with Sark. Wilcox is from Jumction City, but a Duck.

OSU might even look to Johnathan Smith!!

Baldwin might show interest but I doubt he is what OSU wants.

I could be wrong, but doubt it.

I just wonder why Nebraska wants a 61 year old Riley?

I'd be shocked if OSU doesn't look at Smith or Wilcox.

I am shocked Nebraska hired Riley, especially after the sub .500 year they had this year.

Nobody wins at WSU, just like BH found out nobody wins at UNLV.
BS! Erickson and Price at WSU. There are many examples of good coaches winning at places that are less than supportive of their teams.

Maybe, but its typically a one or two year deal and then its back to reality for those schools. Tough to use Erickson as an example when he was only at WSU for 2 years and one of those years he was 3-7. Price is probably the best example, but even with 2 rose bowl teams he was only a couple games over .500 after 13 years. Just tough places to win, tough places to coach at.

Yea, it's certainly a tough place to win but idf erickson would have been there for a long time they would have been at the top of the pac10. Even though WSU doesn't have a history of being a winning team it is still considered a good football program by most.

No chance they look at Smith. Did you see his offense at UDUB?

Names being thrown around (Baldwin on top of reporters list at least)

Beau Baldwin, Matt Wells, Junes Jones, Mendenhall, Dallas Erickson, Hoke, Rocky Long, Justin Wilcox, Johnathon Smith, Osia Lewis.

"Baldwin is in his fifth season at EWU, where he is 52-15. That record includes a 49-46 upset victory over OSU in Corvallis in 2013.

He has guided the Eagles to four successive Big Sky Conference titles, won the 2010 FCS national championship and is 8-2 in the FCS playoffs.

Baldwin who grew up in Tacoma, told the Spokesman-Review that he would not leave Eastern for another FCS job. But OSU would be step up. The Beavers certainly would pay Baldwin more than the $200,000 he makes there.

"Beau has a lot of Rileyesque qualities," former Portland State coach Nigel Burton said. "He'd be a good fit. He's a great football coach and a better person."

Yes sports radio here in Oregon big on Baldwin. Saying if he can recruit to Cheney and EWU he will excel at OSU. Also saying he could bring some of his current players possibly VA and Cupp. Could you imagine that!!! They are also like thought of a more dynamic offense Baldwin runs as a big plus and would do well in Pac 12. I would laugh my ass off on this.

So Baldwin is making $200,000 at EW? That's more than we pay! We never had a chance at him, did we...
Embellished salary number, 152k total 2014 compensation per WA OFM.

LOL, VA couldn't transfer with the one year rule. Cupp wouldn't because he'd lose his entire junior year. Gotta love the press...

I wonder if Wayne Tinkle puts a word in for Bobby at OSU? Bobby could be a good hire there as well!!! OSU looked at Wayne to rebuild the Beavs Bball program. Bobby had success at UM and is know stock by Wayne.

Per Spokesman Review.....

"On Thursday, Baldwin said he hadn’t been contacted by anyone from Oregon State.

Meanwhile, EWU athletic director Bill Chaves was in Portland on Thursday night with several other Eastern officials. Chaves had no comment on whether he or Baldwin had been contacted by anyone from OSU.

Baldwin said he was flattered by the attention but remains focused on getting the Eagles past Montana.

“Obviously, it’s a step up, but in terms of where I am just right now on Thursday, my whole focus is toward Saturday and on what we’re doing here,” Baldwin said as the Eagles prepared for Saturday’s second-round FCS playoff game against the Grizzlies.

At the same time, Baldwin said, “By no means would I not be interested in hearing from a school at the Pac-12 level.”

A move to Corvallis also would mean a large increase in salary. Riley earned a base salary of $1.06 million this year, while Baldwin had a base salary $166,420, according to records obtained this week from EWU Human Resource Services."

I hear Deruyker(sp) from Fresno St will be going to OSU. Maybe Baldwin can jump to the FBS level at Fesno St. ??

Hrmmmm......guess my connection is a bit slow. It has been reported DeRuyter was an option but that's all I could find.

I, personally, do not see Beau as a likely candidate for OSU ... for a number of reasons. First, the EWU FCS championship is "ancient history" in the "grand scheme of things" -- NDSU has seen to that. So that success means nothing, from the 1-A (FBS) perspective. Hiring a "reputable" assistant from a prestige Big-Five program does not require a long explanation.

Second, one of Riley's strengths at OSU was his "comfort" with alumni, media, and the fans. Articles about him for the Nebraska job talk about him being the "anti-Pelini" -- who regularly pissed off backers. (BTW, who knew: Riley is small-town boy from Wallace, Idaho.) While Baldwin is clearly better than Pelini in terms of media relations, I do not get the feeling he has the ability to smooze the way Riley could.

Aside from that we should not forget: Riley had a losing record at OSU this year, but his overall record there was a winner, and he has piled up the most wins by any coach in OSU history. Nebraska fans are knowledgeable enough to understand how impressive that is when they have to go head-to-head with OU.
