Baldwin to OSU???

Baldwin would be fine at OSU.. It will always be a difficult place because of the cousin's in Eugene. Chip Kelley did just fine after being the OC at UNH (whom the Griz destroyed) and moving up all the way to the NFL.

More openings @ OSU as Riley (as expected) is bringing staff with him. O line coach Cavanaugh, former LB coach Trent Bray, Defensive coordinator Mark Banker and special teams coordinator Bruce Read for starters.

Pretty certain it was Read who picked up Jesse Sims as a recruit.

Looks like the recruits are starting to scramble as well. Hope we get Sims back here.

Seems like OSU may be giving Baldwin a closer look....or so it is rumored. From oregonlive.com tonight.....

Oregon State Beavers looking at Eastern Washington's Beau Baldwin for football vacancy

Oregon State athletic department officials have Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin on a list of prospective candidates for the Beavers' head football coaching vacancy, according to a source with knowledge of the hiring process.

An EWU athletic department spokesman declined to comment Monday on whether OSU has asked the Eagles for permission to interview Baldwin.

Multiple news outlets have mentioned Baldwin in recent days as a possible successor to Mike Riley, who left OSU for Nebraska late last week after 14 years — 12 consecutive — in Corvallis. Since replacing Paul Wulff at EWU in 2008, Baldwin is 66-24. The 42-year-old has led the Eagles to four Big Sky Conference titles in five years, won the 2010 FCS national title and opened the 2013 season with a win over OSU at Reser Stadium.

Baldwin, who grew up in Tacoma, is considered an innovative offensive mind with a proven track record recruiting the Northwest. The majority of his roster is from west of the Cascades.

"By no means would I not be interested in hearing from a school at the Pac-12 level," Baldwin told The Spokesman-Review last week.

On Monday morning, 247sports.com's Josh Newberg reported that OSU has contacted former Michigan coach Brady Hoke. Hoke was a Beavers assistant from 1989-94, and he served as a Michigan assistant under then-Wolverines senior associate athletic director — and current OSU athletic director Bob De Carolis — from 1995-98.

Why? We have less coaching stability than OSU right now.

Right now, correct you are, and that's kind of my point. Jesse committed fairly early as he's not greedy, osu seemed like a good fit, he liked the campus and most importantly he didn't want to stress over things as the scholarships were accounted for one by one. He's pretty laid back off the field. That's all out the window now until OSU (or UM) or Colorado State etc get their staff in order....or he gets another solid offer from a school that he likes and that fulfill academic goals.

I guess Haslam had promised our recruits the offers they were given would stand with a new staff, regardless of who specifically recruited them. No one at OSU has given Sims (or any of the other recruits) that piece of mind so they need to keep options open. If OSU could assure Sims they still want him he wouldn't have withdrawn his verbal commitment.

A bird in the hand.....
