Almost forgot the theme of this thread before it got hijacked by EWU fans.

Geddes, I'll try to make the trip if this matchup happens. Have to convince the wife but her sister does live in Spokane so I can use that as a good reason.

Do you have any info on when tickets go on sale and if they can be purchased online. Also it would be cool to sit in the section close to the visiting App State fans.

I went to the Nova vs. EWU semi in 2010 with my old man, and we were able to just walk up to the gate and purchase tickets in seconds. Not sure if things have changed. I will tell you, deep down, I did like to watch EWU put a smack down on Szuzur, only for retribution purposes..it was odd disliking both teams in a game..however, I am a football whore..

I know I hated both teams in that game as well. Although, like you I was pulling for EWU for the same reason..I hate the CAA..especially Nova', James Madison, and Richmond. Not sure why. :roll:

I can see pulling for either team if you're a Griz fan. However, this thread reminded me of three hours of frozen hell I spent on the Montana sideline three years ago. It was your Griz and the Mountaineers in the semifinals. I had never heard such vile taunting from any "fans". Unreal.

I am a Big Sky football fan and had the opportunity to see one more game after my Eagles lost to SFA the Saturday prior. It was a surreal setting in the cold and snow (especially after a half dozen Crown rocks). There was definitely no crying. But this myth about fan bases being either classy or classless is just that, a myth. So pull for the team you want to win, not their fans.

While I am absolutely positive that every team everywhere has loud stupid fans that make Bill Clinton look classy, I am just as sure that, in general, those fans are the vocal minority. This is not the case when we are talking about ewu. That place oozes suckiness and so does its fan base with a couple of, however few, exceptions.

Had a conversation about this very subject today with my drinking buddy, Big Joe. Looks promising. We are meeting up tomorrow and I will mention it in front of his wife. I'm a lovable rogue and she will insist that Joe goes with to keep an eye on me.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the moment you meet Geddes that “Sympathy for the Devil” will be playing in the background? The next thing you'll remember will be waking up passed out in your truck by an angry shotgun toting farmer looking for his daughter. Sounds like fun! I’m in!

P.S. Kurtis, is this sister-in-law single? If so what’s she running? By chance is her dad a farmer?

Nope, married and a ER doctor..so she still may be of help after the run in with the angry farmer.

In the 2010 playoffs, I rooted for EWU to beat Villanova, but I know that had more to do with my hate for Villy. Last Year i rooted for the cats(brawl of the wild take 2) and we know how that ended. I use to be of the attitude that if the griz aren't playing i'm not watching(playoffs). However my ideas on that have changed. Someone made a very good quote that changed my mind, they said "if we as fcs fans aren't gonna watch the playoffs then who will?"

The reason many Griz fans will root for app st over EWU or MSU is due to respect for their program, similar histories, epic battles and hospitable/gracious fans and administration. You won't watch a game in Boone and hear their fans shouting FTG or other crap like that which is spewed by MSU/EWU fans.

What is it with your hatred of Eastern Fans? I'm a Bobcat Alum, my son plays for Eastern, and alot of my family lives in Missoula and are Griz alum. I go to all the games and the only disrepect I've ever seen or received was after this years Eastern win over MSU, and christ, i'm an alum, but was wearing Eastern colors. I had a great experince last year in Missoula, even though my son tore his ACL in that game. Yes, I DO root for the Cats and the Griz in the playoffs. Apparently you had a hoorible experience at an Eastern game a few years back?? Sorry if this was true. Always welcome at my tailgate dude!! Maybe it's just because Eastern's football program is on the rise? Just curious for your rebutal.

Just remember, the people who stormed the field were a few students, NONE of the faithfull fans. Schools had only been in for 3 days, so probably alot of freshman. But why should you have to appologize for that, it wasn't to embarress the Griz, just elation over a VERY VERY great rival, it was out of respect IMO. But I do see where your coming from, but consider it was about 4-500 people, not thousands.Hell, after the game, I had more Griz at my tailgate the Eastern folks, and we had a great time.
