Unlike many I don't like claiming the tie, since the NC was awarded by voters, but its a ridiculous assumption that somehow our win in 1976 was any less valuable.

Heck, many of the teams in the D2 playoffs that year are FBS today.

actually two...one was two years before D1-AA(aka fcs) was formed out of the upper escelon of D-2 teams (big sky conference was in existance since approx 1960 as origionally a d-2 conference and was part of the "move up")...
