NWF, how dead are things at bobcatnation? You are pretty busy posting here. I am not posting this to argue here, but multiple times you have insinuated GRIZ fans are claiming we could be a big boy like Alabama, etc. There is not any 1 egrizzer posting anything like that. The extent of some posts are that it would be nice to play better competition in a better conference. A few posts did reference, the possibility to compete for a national championship. That is not any egrizzers claiming the GRIZ will be a big boy and be like Alabama, etc.
I guess for the sake of appeasing you, they should have posted, every now and then the GRIZ could compete for the MWC championship, maybe go undefeated, or have a 1 loss season, then have a chance to be in a BCS playoff, after it expands it's field. That is what Boise State has done at the BCS level. The best teams in the MWC year to year, at worse have that opportunity, yet with a stacked deck against them. That is true. Yet it is also not anyone saying Boise State is on the elite level of the BCS elites. It only takes 1 season, doing your part, and earning the right to upset the elite big boys of the BCS.
Hell, every DIV 1 basketball program has that opportunity to make a name for the school and program in the NCAA tournament. Does it happen very often? Hell no, but because of the system, they do get the opportunity.
Please quit insinuating GRIZ fans on egriz are implying the GRIZ are on the level of elite BCS programs. It would take decades, many generations, and a lot more fortune for any program outside of the Power 5 conferences to honestly be able to make outlandish and ridiculous statements like that.
Yes, I am glad the GRIZ are preparing for the day, when another difficult decision will have to be made. That puts the GRIZ in better position to make the right decision, whenever that day comes. Personally, I feel the Big Sky Conference is a sinking ship. It is very possible the GRIZ and other programs will be forced to risk everything just to get off the sinking ship.
I'd be all for staying in the BSC, IF fellow conference schools and fan bases would make an effort to support their teams. That is the only way the conference will get better again. Really, outside of the state of Montana, what other programs consistently have decent fan support in both football and basketball, year in, year out?
Even the worse of schools/programs in the MWC have better support than most of the Big Sky. By the looks of the numbers, yes, the GRIZ belong more in the MWC than the Big Sky. What will rest of the Big Sky conference do to become a better and more competitive conference? It starts with setting expectations for member schools a lot higher, and community/fan support committing to those schools/programs. That is the reality of why the GRIZ and other schools need to prepare for the day when a decision will be forced upon many schools.
