This is non-news. Time to let it go

If was a Griz player people would be calling for a suspension.....maybe NDSU doesn't want a starter sitting so will cover up the incident.

Yes, releasing a statement to the press saying their player shoved a fan after the game is certainly a cover up if I've ever seen one.

The "fan" deserved what he got. End of story.

Well, it's on video, so I'm not sure how they could claim no punch. #25 clearly hit the dude.

I think if you blow up the vid, and slow it down some, what you're going to see is the "wax-off" defensive maneuver. Morlock is a Mr. Miyagi disciple.

HA! Shoved? Is that seriously what they said? Why not just admit that a T-Buff player let his emotions get the best of him and hit a fan? The dude deserved it, but it certainly doesn't help matters when the administration calls it a shove, haha!

Shove vs punch.....big difference. Hell in the game a shove vs punch means ejection or not

Shove= get the heck away from me
Punch= assault

Players don't hit fans........period! Just walk away even if he's an idiot.

25 belongs at the Mo Club. Atlanta would show him a good time cause he is packin.

I heard Atlanta/Growler has been spending a lot of time at the range practicing.

He's ready for anything! ....as long as there's a clear path to a back exit of course.
 looks like you got the physique right!

I watched this replay of the inccident and slowed it down. You can clearly see Chase trying to walk away and the fan continue to adavance towards him and eventually grabbed his facemask. After seeing that , I now regress my earlier opinion and think Chase absolutely had the right to get the fan off of him. I also didn't see a punch.

Considering the fact that the University of Montana issued a public statement apologizing to NDSU for the incident and stated that they were investigating who the fan was, I would say that they generally see the same thing I and most fans see.

Unfortunate this had to happen. If that fan is caught, I would have to believe it will be a very long time before he sees another game in Washington Grizzly stadium.

He has been doing atkins :thumb:

Can't tell if it is a punch or a shove. Shove=justifiable. Punch=punishable offense. The fan was an idiot but the player is protected by equipment that can survive full bore football hits and is likely immensely stronger than your average drunken fan. Ergo, not much physical threat to him and discretion and walking away is the better choice.

Fan should be banned for the season.

99.999% of Montana fans were very nice and some even wanted to shake our hands after the game waiting to leave our seats and while walking back to our car. There are few bad apples in every crowd.

So you are a fan, you run up to an opposing player, get in his face - jump up and tap him on the top of the helmet and expect nothing to happen. What a tool...I would have punched him. They need to keep all fans of the field until the opposing team is back in the locker room....

I agree. No reason to punch someone in the face. I hope both people involved are dealt with accordingly.

I'm fine with the fan getting punched in the face. Maybe a hard tackle would have been better and inflicted more punishment.

Fans shouldn't be allowed to be near an opposing team after a game (as with the playoffs). And visiting fans need to feel secure. At MSU and--in particular the past two years--at EWU player and fan security has been questionable. Alcohol, emotion, and stupid contribute to accidents waiting to happen.
