A little roster update

Have you ever been content with UM football coaches?
Serious question, was there ever a period when you did not bitch about a coach?
When?

Of course. I loved Read, Dennehy, Glenn, and Phlugrad. I tolerated Hauck 1.0, but criticized his style of playing not-to-lose when having a big lead on opponents. Also, he deserved to be named "big game Bob", because he could never get it done in a NC game. I hated (not personally, just as a coach) both Delaney and Stitt. Both were terrible hires at the time they were hired. The hiring of Delaney was the worst decision that could have been made, followed by hiring Stitt, the second worst decision that could have been made. Their six years is the reason our program is still floundering.
So, I have loved four out of seven. About par for any knowledgeable football fan.

My sentiments as well with a couple of exceptions. I don't hate the Delaney hire as much as you. I think he did well to spark a return to normalcy. He was never going to elevate the Griz, but he did stabilize the program. Stitt took it backward as we all know...

So, I disagree that the 6 years of Stitt and Delaney are entirely the reason the program is not achieving its full potential. What about the recent YEARS? BH (2.0) and the "band" have been leading the Griz since 1 December 2017....

Maybe this is the year...

When the 'program' got completely taken off the rails for six fu*king years, by Delaney and Stitt, BH had to start from scratch. I'm as disappointed as anyone that he hasn't delivered as promised, but any automobile bodyman can tell you the totalled Cadillac will take some time and work to restore it to its former glory. Patience, Grasshopper!

Lame fucking excuse. The Idaho coach got it done in one year. With the way the portal works now, it shouldn’t take 5 years to finish 6th.

Yep, as did the Sac. State coach

" The hiring of Delaney was the worst decision that could have been made," It is so hard to take you serious when you post nonsense like this. Mick was the absolutely best hire at that time. With all the turmoil he was needed as a steady hand. Loved and respected by players he turned it around after first year and went 19-8 his last two years. And 2-1 vs Cats.

Nope. Only a Band Aid hire, from a career unqualified position coach, who was never held in enough esteem to even become a coordinator during his career. So, Mick was the only coach in America with "a steady hand"??? You've drunk the Kool-Aid. We didn't need a personality, we needed a new head coach capable of moving us forward. To compound his supposed one-year gig, we allowed him to politic for another two years to pad his retirement, at the expense of our program. Bad hire from day one.

I guess I am the only one smart enough to admit the primary reason for the debacle we experience now, as Hauck tries desperately to right the ship. Those six years of bad hires was the kiss of death for this once-great national powerhouse football program.

Idaho ended the season ranked no. 18 and lost its playoff game. That's your idea of getting it done?

Yes, SS won 1 playoff game in 3 years, after being seeded 2 years. So, 1-3 in the playoffs. That's your idea of getting it done? That's pretty funny. During the same 3 years, UM won 3 playoff games, and was ranked 6th in the nation twice.

Delaney righted the ship, and did fine in the circumstances. I confirmed that with my NFL scout friend and my college coaches who remembered to put me on the roster.

In year one. And don’t even try to compare what he inherited with what Bobby inherited.

He had a coaching career to be proud of. Ask players that played for him what kind of coach he was. He took over a bad situation and righted the ship. He went 10-3 his second year (3rd in Big Sky) and 9-5 his third (2nd in Big Sky). Beat Bobcats in both of the last two years. Ended up ranked #8 and #11 nationally. And yea the guy has a great personality which I am sure you can't relate to.

It's a joke to say that Idaho was some incredible team last season. They weren't. Ya, they beat the Griz when our qb was very sick. They won; the Griz lost. But that doesn't mean Idaho was a terrific team.

And in his first season, he lost JJ as the qb right before pre-season practice started. And jokers like this run around saying Idaho, at no. 18 and with a playoff loss, was some incredible team. Nos. 8 and 11 looks pretty good to me. Mick is a great guy. So is his wife.

The Idaho program was in about the same state as what stitt left UM.. it's NOT* like Idaho rolled us.. if Johnson was healthy we would have smoked Idaho. Let's be real.

The trite ol "if only" excuse for losing. Give it a rest. You don't have a clue what would have happened in that game.

Agree with Uncle on this one. Mick was the correct and best hire at the time.
Stitt was a mistake, although after his first win I too jumped on his band wagon. Jumped off at a latewr date.

Like after the next two losses after that game?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe Mick is progressive?

Tennessee Tech University

TN Tech??? What a step-down for Knight! I have been to Cookeville many times on my way to Dale Hollow Lake. It is a fly-trap town, and a team which is a joke in their conference.

It may be a step down, but if he gets tons of reps and playing time, it might allow him to find more of that old form. Sometimes it's helpful to step down in competition to get back up to speed.

I don't know Marcus and I have no clue of his physical condition, but if he gets to play more and he's happy, I'm happy for him.
