Disagree. Cats had time to score again. No time off the clock with the kick. and a shaky kicker. That field goal distance is within range for most high school teams and they would have won the game if they made it.

Yeah you and 406 make a good point about MSU getting the ball back that I wasn’t thinking of.Disagree. Cats had time to score again. No time off the clock with the kick. and a shaky kicker.
All the more reason not to use him in that situation. This kicker was not the same one they had all season. I think he had only kicked in one or two of the playoff games.
That kicker had never made one over 35 yards I believe they said. That field goal distance is within range for most high school teams and they would have won the game if they made it.
He wasn’t great from within 35 yards either obviously and the snap and hold were goofed up as well. That kicker had never made one over 35 yards I believe they said.
operational time should always take care of the edge rusher. Spack should have some inclination that his kicking game was in shambles. In my opinion kicking is almost always the right call but all 3 people involved in the operation goofed up as well as whoever was supposed to block the Cat player off the edge.
Have you ever snapped, held or kicked a field goal? Both holds were worse than the snaps.
What statistics? Are you using NFL analytics? This is all second guessing by a bunch of armchair coaches. Statistics would say kick the FG.
Going for it maximizes expected win probability. This is all second guessing by a bunch of armchair coaches. Statistics would say kick the FG.
I have. Confidence is key.Have you ever snapped, held or kicked a field goal?
I was asking Hoops because he said the hold was worse than the snap on the field goal when the laces were facing directly at the kicker on the snap. I have a family member who has been in the NCAA record books for over 40 years for kicking field goals.I have. Confidence is key.
Go look at the success rate on 4th and 1 against this years cat defense. Then look at success rate for short FG's for ISU this year. Compare the stats and let me know if I'm wrong. What statistics? Are you using NFL analytics?
I get where you are coming from, but that means nothing when momentum is in your favor. The game dictates how you play the game. The game last night told me they should go on 4th and 1 and to let the offense win or lose the game.Go look at the success rate on 4th and 1 against this years cat defense. 406 did you play football at a high level? Where you are coming from is usually a sentiment from former players. People who didn’t play the game at a high level don’t understand the importance of momentum swings.I get where you are coming from, but that means nothing when momentum is in your favor. Both were mis handled.on the extra point the bobs player who blocked it was in front of the kicker in the blink of an eye. one could argue it was blocked because of his effort, more than anything.

That Cat Defense was gassed at that point. ISU was pushing them around. I was screaming at the TV for them to go for the 1st down. Couldn’t believe the coach chickened out. Cost them the game in my opinion. (That and the dropped interception on the Cats 3rd down in OT.)Go look at the success rate on 4th and 1 against this years cat defense. Yes, I used to do all 3 at the same time in college.Have you ever snapped, held or kicked a field goal?
