3-3-5 Discussion

Kem, not to diminish our only win in several years over the Cats, but at least admit that their QB was total garbage, was not 100% healthy, and that was the reason their offense sputtered in that game.
Although it doesn't explain the rushing performance, this excuse works, but Johnson being injured for key games, many on the road, is just a lame excuse. Got it.

Nice deflection. And yes, the Cat QB was not 100% in that game. Same excuse you used for our loss to Idaho this season

Kansas State's 3-3-5 defense gave up 35 unanswered points today. I'm not decrying the potential of this defense, but I wouldn't use the Sugar Bowl as an illustration of its prowess.

The talent disparity between KSU and Alabama might have had more to do with that, maybe lol

Fact is TCU is dominating Michigan with the defense you clowns are poo pooling. Anyone that thinks it's the denfese itself knows less about football than Haslem.

I knew before and it's 100% confirmed our problem is coaching. Glaringly obvious.

Yeah.... TCU's 3-3-5 is doing damn well against Michigan. And Michigan is a run heavy team. Tcu 14 Michigan 3. TCU making Michigan look like trash.

So it's coaching that our guys were letting RBs and QBs slip right through their hands? Usually out guys were there to stop em, just couldn't hold onto them. That's a strength and conditioning problem.

TCU got some dudes on that defense. Funny how it’s the linebackers and safeties with all the tackles though.

With that defense, they must all be the HC's kids!

That’s what happens when you have guys upfront that command the double teams. Our guys could be taken on with single blocks and they had OL to reach the second level. Big difference.

Who was talking of the prowess? How would you judge TCU D so far?

If the D was super effective it’d be run by more than a handful of teams.

It's funny that before this game you talk about how TT can't possibly beat Michigan because the 3-3-5 can't hold up against their run game. Now that narrative has changed the goal posts move to not many good teams use it.

If there is a way to make the staff look bad, eGriz will find it. It’s basically like politics. People choose their side and plug their ears “lalalalala”.

The game isn't over, but TCU is making the people claiming no one will ever win a NC with the 3-3-5 defense look pretty silly. I submit you need to evaluate WHO the eleven players in the 3-3-5 are. Consider: I was a student at UT Austin when they won their first NC with the wishbone offense that Darrel Royal pilferred from Houston, I think. But I believe way too much of the Texas success was attributed to the then unusual formation. I submit the Texas players were championship level from the get go and could have won running any number of formations - except maybe spread with empty backfield, because James Street was a great runner but barely adequate passer. So I contend that just because the Griz haven't won it all with it, doesn't mean no one can. Whoa, Michigan just scored on a flea flicker - and its success had nothing to do with the TCU
3-3-5 defense.

James Street in the house. :thumb:

If Alabama and Georgia wanted to run a 3-3-5, they could make it work just as well as their current scheme. The defenses with the best players usually are the best, regardless of scheme.

You must have me confused with someone else. I said no such thing about TCU.
