Taking RH off the field on ANY down is among the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. These are his pre-season accolades....and he is only a RS Junior.

Sure, but many times it’s not possible. You want to be caught with 10 or 12 guys on the field, trying to sub mid-play?

It’s not that difficult if he knows he’s out on a 3rd and long and the other safety is actively anticipating going in as well. It can be done effectively if the defensive coaches are closely monitoring. I would like to see that in some earlier games this year to work out what the best combination of players is to make the defense and thus the team better for the playoffs.

A lot of that depends on the refs, and how fast they’re letting the opposing offense run.

Doesn't really matter where the Robby thing came from - turns out some of you morons might be onto something. Starting logically with the thread title in mind:

1. Many posters agree that the 3-3-5 defense isn't the best defense to stop really good running teams (think of late November 2018 and 2019).
2. At least some agree that Robby couldn't cover his mouth when he sneezes, much less cover moderately talented wide receivers.
3. Turning liabilities into assets is what good coaches do.

Therefore Bobby plays Robby because he wants other teams, especially good physical running teams, to pass more cutting their TOP and helping out the defense by not getting shit-rolled in the 4th quarter. Also may give the Griz more possessions per game for our potent offense to simply outscore the opponent. Must gamble that the QB overthrows a few to those moderately talented wide receivers, they drop a few, and a few hit Robby in the head as he chases down the receiver that is ten yards behind him.

So the answer is to play Robby more, not less - every damn down. Genius, pure genius I say :lol:

Oh, so coach's sons never receive preferential treatment. NEVER! He must earn everything he gets. I get it. I'm Jessie now? Hardly. But your post displays perfectly the venom against some posters who dare to state that the coach's son just might have a few deficiencies in his game. It's a shame that intelligent football discussion can not occur without the predictable "don't criticize RH, he is All-Conference"....... which to some means that he is the second coming of Troy Polumolu. As I said in a previous post, RH is very good defending the run game, is a hitter like his uncle, and has a nose for the football. However, if you can not see from watching previous games that he is not a good pass defender, then you are either not watching, or unable to evaluation what it takes to be a good pass defender. And, I don't seem to be the Lone Ranger in my statements about RH.

Deon Sanders was an All-Pro CB for 10 years. Was he a great tackler? NO! Was he great at run support? NO!

Dude, do you need a refresher on reading comprehension? Stop misquoting me saying that the reason Robby is playing is because he is the coach's son. Re-read my post. Did I say that RH should not be starting? Did I say that he should not be All-Conference? The answer is NO to both. I merely said that being the head coach's son, it may be a factor in RB being replaced on obvious passing downs. PERIOD! If you and your buddies can't admit that RH is not a good pass defender, then you are revealing yourself as being a Hauck homer. Every knowledgeable Griz fan I know agrees that pass defense is Robby's weakness. But carry on. I think Bobby knows that his son is not a great pass defender, even if a few of you don't.

Jessie and me have both asked any of you to state that RH is a great pass defender, and all we hear is crickets, and personal insults.

There have been three posters in the past who conformed that fact, because they all played with me. You must have missed it while posting your jokes on Facebook.
