2025 Transfer Thread/ Portal Offers-- (31) Transfers to UM

If you're looking for over twenty players a year in the portal you're not developing very many HS players. It would be different if Hauck was just stepping into this situation after a coach had left a mess but that isn't the situation is it?
Clearly he is struggling with stability since the portal has become a thing. He can no longer just bully everyone in the program. And by definition your getting someones cast offs in the portal unless your P4 and your getting players with the talent to move up.
Is the University of Montana recruiting more transfers than other schools? I don't get that impression. That's part of your premise, right?
Is the team seeing more transfers out than other teams?
Both of those trends, if true, can be proven with data. You would be more persuasive if you showed us your math.

Here’s a list of “cast offs” playing for your cats.
Julius Davis
Brendan Hall
Dylan Rollins
Lonyetta Alexander
Dru Polidore
Jon Johnson
Ty McCullouch
Rohan Jones
Ryan King
Garrett Walchli
JT Reed
Cole Sain
Alec Eckert

Would you consider Zac Crews a cast off or an outcast?

Hoops do the math!! Look how many have signed at UM via the portal so far this month and look how many we have offers out to!!! And that’s just what’s being reported on egriz. We are “looking” at more than 20 right now.
"So far this month" is a curious statement. Spring semester begins on the 16th, right?
How many more commitments do you expect in the next two weeks?
It was mentioned in this thread that there are 4 transfers committed to UM now. Junior college players don'tcome from the portal. A very clear headed observation.
Are four portal players unusual for an FCS program? You should be able to show us your math, right.

Just saw a note that the transfer portal is based on when the paperwork is completed and sent in. IE A player could send in the paperwork and not announce anything for several days.

would not think that would be positive for a player to wait as it may lesson your opportunities

Payton’s list currently has 4 plus the Minn St Whitefish kid. 701 thinks that equals 20.

Very few of those players were portal upper classmen.

Good point, I am probably getting the wrong impression from the last couple years of the portal.

I’m thinking we landed Braydon Bailey from Utah State. He’s following our entire coaching staff and even guys like Frank Gogola. Plus he’s Hawaiian and went to Golden West CC. Two pipelines of ours.

That probably means we missed on Fernandez, but that’s ok cause these guys are basically the same size. I still think we have a good chance at Claypool. If we get Bailey and Claypool, I’ll feel pretty good about the DL.
