That's what retirement is all about. Now, I know why those old people wore those pithy T-shirts with expressions like "I'm retired. Don't ask me to do a damn thing." But, you keep on a workin', my Social Security and Medicare need your contributions. :twocents:

F*cking socialists you don't get all those benefits I assume.

This is an old saw, but in the final analysis this team will go as far as the O-line will take them. It is as simple and as complex as that!
It's fatal flaw is that it neglects defense and the ability to hold down the opponents score.

This team has a better defense than we've seen in years and that will take a lot of pressure off the offense, including the OL.

Yes but we still have to score some points.

is there a recent/ impending transfer OL? Are there any Frosh or RS-Frosh OL ready to play/ move up depth?

- Starting OL is stacked, experienced, and mean AF. Backups are coming along, I had to take some guesses at a few spots on depth, lots of rotation in the spring but the group looked good regardless

- Stable of RBs provide a great trio that should soften the loss of Knight

Is Knight out all of 2021, or is there a chance we see him before MSU game?

Thanks BW - good thread.

I hope you are correct, because it is really bad to see other teams in recent years rush for 300+ yards on us.

Teams?

2019:
South Dakota - 87 rushing yards
North Alabama - 56 rushing yards
Oregon - 247 rushing yards
Monmouth - 81 rushing yards
UC Davis - 60 rushing yards
ISU - 197 rushing yards
Sac State - 158 rushing yards
EWU - 101 rushing yards
PSU - 43 rushing yards
Idaho - 121 rushing yards
Weber - 69 rushing yards
MSU - 382 rushing yards
SELA - 22 rushing yards
Weber - 17 rushing yards

2018:
UNI - 101 rushing yards
Drake - 78 rushing yards
WIU - 45 rushing yards
Sac State - 251 rushing yards
Cal Poly - 412 rushing yards
PSU - 179 rushing yards
UND - 282 rushing yards
UCD - 171 rushing yards
SUU - 73 rushing yards
Idaho - 147 rushing yards
MSU - 229 rushing yards

so I see a total of 2 300+ Rushing games by opponents…and one of those was a triple option team. Unless you’re implying that the only opponent that matters is MSU….

We're finally getting closer to some Grizzly football, with fall camp for the team starting next week! We've had a long damn time to discuss this season, the team, etc. Thought I'd share some thoughts on what will be worth watching to develop as we get into the season.

First off, here's my guess at a 2-deep based on the spring games and the end of the 2019 season:

QB: Humphrey / Brown
RB: Ostmo / Harris or Childs
WR: Akem / Simpson
WR: Roberts / Flowers
WR: Sulser / White
TE: Grossman / Rensvold or Elwell
T: Beaver / Bloemendaal
T: Cook / Kanouse
G: Pillans / Keintz
G: Mallory / Ganoung
C: Forbes / Martin

Strengths

- Incredibly talented WR pool that's legit 2-deep with maybe one of the best WRs in the Big Sky, if not the FCS in Akem.

- Senior QB at the helm which is something this staff always wants to have, add in Humphrey had 2 1/2 games of starting experience in 2019 and 2 more this spring.

- Starting OL is stacked, experienced, and mean AF. Backups are coming along, I had to take some guesses at a few spots on depth, lots of rotation in the spring but the group looked good regardless

- Stable of RBs provide a great trio that should soften the loss of Knight

- While younger we've finally got some TE's that this staff wants in this offense, ones that can block when needed and get open and beat defenses as well.

Concerns

- Tackle depth is young and somewhat untested, and honestly I had to guess at the guys filling it and could be wrong with who's there.

- Humphrey didn't look like a Sneed or Johnson in their senior seasons in his 2 spring games. Should we be worried? Depth behind him we saw Brown make some major strides since showing up, QB's beyond that are a total unknown.

- TE experience is really low with Deming gone

- Marcus Knight will be missed on the field

-----------------
I think there's a lot to be excited for with this offense and we saw cases for that this spring when the offense put together two games in a row with over 500 yards and an average of 53.5 points per game. Yes it was against a D2 school and what seemed to be really rusty PSU that didn't appear to be on our level. This will be the first year in quite some time that the Griz will have an OL that's all over 300 pounds, with I believe just about every player, including some depth guys, with multiple prior starts/seasons under the belt too. This team will go as far as the O-line can push it and this spring gave me great hope for that. The WR corps, our athletic TEs, and the trio of running backs we'll presumably lean on will help spread the ball out and should make it easier for Cam to get rolling into the season. Like always, injuries and thin depth in some areas weigh heavy as a concern but practically no team in college football is free from those worries.

Good to be reading your write-ups again, B. :!:

Yes but we still have to score some points.

So you are worried that this team will not score any points? See a therapist.

As per both BH and RB coach Green, he is out for the year.

Learn to read and understand.
Well understood. Some is only more than none. But nice pivot; this team will score a LOT of points and your post will look even more ridiculous.

More than your blatant attempts to misconstrue, I doubt it.
"Some is only more than none".....WTF
Grade school math hard ?

You don't even seem to recognize that it has nothing to do with math. It's simple English. Math has to do with calculus and differential equations. You may have to Google those.

My guess - don't risk rushing Knight back

If Cam Humphrey reads my posts critical of his decision-making ability...... hopefully he takes it as a challenge to prove me wrong. And, I hope he does prove me wrong. I am just as much a Griz fan as any of you. But I am not immune to making critical observations about the team, or individual players, like some of you.

Personally I'm not worried about his decision making ability, it's the actual throw. From what I've seen in some cases the read/decision is correct but the throw is late or off-target. Seems to me more of trusting the read right away and going with it. He also seems to kind of nicely ease into it and get more comfortable as games go. In both PSU games (2019 and 2021) we saw that, as well as the other spring 2021 game.

Well I did goggle it and no problem with all that, it's the phrase "some is more than none" when were talking points. Simple math too hard for you? Thats ok I used to teach remedial math, I understand your problems, well some of them anyway, some you need professional help.
