2019 Griz Football Recruiting 25 Signed, 9 Transfers & 4 Walk-ons

Did anybody else catch this in the gogriz signing article?

https://gogriz.com/news/2018/12/19/football-griz-add-on-early-signing-day.aspx?path=football

"While the class of 2019 is deep in numbers, it's also long on talent with five (six with Dries) of Montana's prep recruits playing in a state championship game last season."

Colin Dreis played in a state championship in Arizona this year. A slip up? Could this be the mystery signer tomorrow?

 nice! I bet that was an accidental slip lol

The (six with Dries) comment has been edited out on the gogriz.com article.

Now it just states, "While the class of 2019 is deep in numbers, it's also long on talent with five of Montana's prep recruits playing in a state championship game last season."

With the coaches (and the school) not allowed to comment on recruits until they're signed, I wonder if this is a minor violation...

Hope Dreis does sign. More beef up front would be nice!

“Last year, you’re kind of taking some risks and trying to evaluate in a shorter period of time,” Hauck said. “I would say that five years, four years from now, when we come out at the end of this thing, we look at these guys graduating, that we’ll probably have a higher percentage of guys that are all-league players in this class than the previous one just because we’ve had time to really evaluate.”

The group features 11 players from Montana, four from Washington, three from Idaho, two from Oregon and one from Alaska. There are four 3-star recruits and four 2-star recruits in the class, all from outside the state.

“It’s heavy with Montana kids, which is our way,” Hauck said. “We’re going to try to recruit every Montana kid that we think can help us win a championship. And then we’ll go elsewhere for the rest.”
The Griz signed four offensive linemen and three defensive linemen, the most at any position. Those were two positions where they struggled during the 2018 season.

“We’re heavy on the fronts, offense and defense, again,” Hauck said. "Obviously, we’ve got some deficiencies there. … Those things don’t get answered in one year or two years. That’s going to be a consistent theme through next year as well.”

Is somebody already lobbying for a longer-term deal?

If I had to swing a guess, they probably wrote this article ahead of time. When Dreis didn't sign for whatever reason, they removed his name from the list but forgot to delete that part. Either way they better proof read more thoroughly next time haha!

Were you already expecting him to leave in the next two years, or something?

Or setting stage for excuses next year

According to the gogriz link, we got a DL who is faster than one of our CBs.
McGourin: “11.3 in the 100 m”
Gradney: “100 of 11.34 seconds”

Whatever happened to this guy? He just played in the Blue-Grey All Star game, has offers to BYU, UofI and ISU, but hasn't signed (at least not per his twitter)...did we never offer him after inviting him to Junior day?

Ashton Beach LB (Washington)
Demariantae Moore RB (Texas)
Hayden Vandehey QB (Oregon)
Michael Sondermann RB (Idaho)
Jesse Martineau QB (Washington)
Tony Hermann DL (Washington)
Trenton Olson WR (Washington)
Jake Maggio LS (New Jersey)
Parker Freiberg RB/LB (Minnesota)
Bailey Sulzberger Ath (California)
Madden Salisbury DL/OL (Oregon)
GW Fulford OL (Oregon)
RJ Bell DL (Washington)
Alex Paluck OL (Washington)
Moses Smith DL (Nevada)
JJ Leming QB (Washington)
Carson Fugelburg TE/DE (Idaho)
Brian Buschini K/P (Montana)
Nate Hebert QB (Washington)
Kyle Wray FB/OL (California)
Davion Pruitt OL (Washington)
Dakota Hibbs DE/LB (Washington)
Donte Whiting CB (Oregon)

Even weirder. Here's the entire list of Junior Day invites. Not ONE player signed off that list unless Buschini signs. And as far as we know, not ONE player even OFFERED off that list except Buschini...Does that not strike anybody as odd?

Without knowing the statistics, I would assume we usually sign at least a few junior day attendees. So yes, that strikes me as very odd!
