From what I am hearing....both the Polson young men are being recruited on the offensive side of the ball.....

So it sounds like we still don't know who the mystery commit is?

To keep it mysterious, maybe our recruits should wear masks like Mexican wrestlers and have like El Havoc...

McKenzie is a 6'4", 230 lb. ATH (can play RB, WR, TE, DE, LB) with a ton of upside and physically he is absolutely big enough for the Big Sky. However, there are some other factors he will have to overcome to really reach his potential. This was a kid I definitely predicted would want to go Griz but he is a bit lower in my rankings because I really wasn't impressed with his effort on non-highlight tape and just his tape overall. Strength isn't an issue but he just doesn't dominate like I would expect a kid of his size to do. He is now a senior and has yet to make an All-State team even though coaches in the 7B have said he is one of the best athletes in Class B and the State. That usually tells you something so I hope McKenzie figures it out.

With that said, if he does reach his potential, he could be a future star at DE in my opinion. He is very strong and can run a sub 12 second 100m dash. Other positions could be the H-receiver or LB.

Looks like Trevor Hoerner was the #5 commit. Trevor is a 6'4", 215 lbs. WR/LB with good length and is kind of "Jed Nagler" light in terms of his athletic ability. Easily a top 20 Montana recruit and my #3 overall receiver. He also is in the mix with the top LBs as well.

To recap, here are the current Griz in-state recruits:

7 instate verbals... do the cats know about this?

Absolutely. MSU has a very good shot on 5-6 more really good in-state kids. A long time until February 2017.

Just messing... Im not a big numbers guy.... but a lot of cat fans are.

I mean cmon. Aren't you excited for the yearly "We got more kids" vs. "We got more quality kids" argument?

Hey Vim, not sure if you've touched on this cus I'm not reading 8,000 posts on who's recruiting the state better. How good is Dawson Berg and who looks to have the lead on landing him?

Griz family. Prototypical size for an interior offensive lineman. Good run blocker. Struggles in pass pro. For his size, he should dominate more but doesn't. Needs a big senior season to cement his status as the best offensive line prospect in next year's Montana crop. Two other top guys are Luke Poetzl of Billings Senior and Zack Baker of Columbia Falls.

Thanks for the info Vim. Gonna have to step up the pass pro to play in our O but could be a good project w/ his size if he wants to learn and work hard. How about Poetzel and Baker. Who's got the inside lead on those two?

Oh no don't get me wrong. With his size and the fact that he is a road grader in the ground game, Dawsen is a solid prospect and I think the Griz are high on him. Poetzl is getting recruited by both schools but I think they both want him to play defensive line. Baker is from a Bobcat family and he has really good feet and can really run for a big guy. However, he doesn't dominate like I think he should either at times. One thing Baker has going for him is he comes form a heavy passing team in Columbia Falls so he already has understand of the techniques of that type of offense. Poetzl is the most undersized of all three (6'4", 235 lbs.) but he is by far the best technician of the three. For example, Luke went one on one against Braydon Deming two games last year and Poetzl dominated the matchup both times.

Awesome info Vim. Thanks again. It's rare on here to have people actually know what they're talking about.

Everyone here does that. Difference is yours are usually based on factual evidence.

Haven't read everything on the last couple of pages, but wanted to give Kyle a shout out.

Nice job.

Updated with Vims new rankings....

I agree that the best player still on the board is Keaton Anderson (Billings Senior)

I would probably move Berg and Dick up into the top 10... but it is awesome to see the in-staters get noticed....
