2017 Vim's Montana High School Football Recruiting List

If Keaton Anderson does go to a school in Montana it will be Msu he is a cat fan and the Hashleys are a huge cat family and no way jaxen choses griz

Those are monster gets for the Cats. Fortunate for the Griz I'm hearing two of Vim's other top two guys have zero interest in Montana OR Montana State in Keaton Anderson and Hashley. Heard Anderson is pretty set on going FBS even if it's a preferred w/o, and was told by some coaches that Hashley, at least at the moment, is leaning towards hoops.

Jaxen has gotten up to 6'6" 260 lbs. I told this to my buddy the other day, "Maybe he is a better fit with hoops?" if Jaxen keeps growing, I see no reason why not. Did you guys watch his dad rebound? Scary.

The thing is, this class is WAY deeper than those top 5. Safety, wide receiver, and linebacker class are loaded.

The bobs can spunk all over themselves about these verbals, but the only reason they have verbaled to the bobs is because the Griz have not offered yet! Most of these kids will play their senior season and get other offers and end up somewhere else. If a kid is offered the same amount and chooses msu over the Griz he is either interested in a engineering degree or an Ag degree. With all the facilities and winning record favoring the Griz it only makes sense that if a kid has verbaled to the cats he hasn't been offered by the Griz yet. They are just getting excited over these early verbals because they can't talk about their preseason #1 accolades this year! Mike Drop!!!!

I would bet that Taden and the kid from Beaverhead had offers from UM... the question is what kind of offer. Stitt has shown himself to be a bit stingy with instate recruits, looking for kids with academic scollies help. Not a bad ploy just get killed when them kitties step up with a full ride (See 2015 recruiting)

I would also be stunned if Anderson and Hasley don't have UM offers.

The problem with Taden is that 5 or 6 of his former teammates are at msu. That is a great pull for any HS athlete, and a problem Stitt and Company has to fix.

If you want Montana kids, why not start at Glacier? They have been in the final four of the highest level in the state for 4 or 5 years.

The previous coach at UM dropped the ball and it will be really hard to change this snowball.

When the Griz spank the cats again this November and the new locker rooms and athletic center are closer to being completed a lot will change!

Just like the Butte QB Cook, who will never play Division 1 football, had "serious interest from Oregon and several other FBS programs". Which Big Ten and PAC 12 schools have visited him in Dillon, Montana this spring? That would be considered serious interest

Or like Dylan Hanser (Washington State) and Will Dissly (Washington). Interest is there and will be there through the fall.

I agree with WaGriz4Life, we hear all of the time about kids having "interest" from FBS schools. Does mean he got a letter from them? Big deal. They send letters out to virtually every prospect they MIGHT recruit. If they are seriously interested in him, he will be in regular contact with coaches.

They send them a letter, he says...

Have another toke, cause you obviously know nothing about recruiting high school kids. My buddy in Arizona has a son who started receiving letters from college coaches his sophomore year. By the time he was a senior, he had letters from over 75 FBS and FCS schools (including UM). He ultimately signed with the University of Arizona and is a sophomore there.

Your post is ridiculous. You are saying that kids verbal to MSU, then switch to Montana if they are offered later? Pure poppycock! It may have happened a couple of times, but it is more rare than your solving a cross-word puzzle. And, it also occurs the other way where kids verbal to UM, then sign with the Cats.

Payton writes "The problem with Taden is that 5 or 6 of his former teammates are at msu. That is a great pull for any HS athlete, and a problem Stitt and Company has to fix."

So, you are essentially admitting that MSU has done a better job recruiting this key AA school? Don't let Raider read your post, he'll need a defibrillator!

By the way, any good recruiter can break the historical recruiting chain at any high school. It happens all of the time. We seem to have lost our edge with Bellevue, Washington the past couple of years. These things are dynamic, and can change in any year. Bottom line is, the Griz need to step-up their in-state recruiting and turn this thing around to the dominance it used to be.

Not a big surprise due to his dad, but Jaxen Hashley verbaled to MSU.

I think we'll end up getting the other Anderson from Billings. He'll be good. Lots of nice in state talent this year. I think we could've/should've gotten Gilman tho.

Payton or Vim. Quick question. I heard that the current staff is actually doing a poor job of communicating with high school coaches. My brother in law is a coach and he was the one who told me. He said both Lowry at CMR and Arnston at Helena(both ex griz players) state that they don't even get the time of day from the griz staff while MSU is very active with their communications with coaches. I consider him a very credible source.

Is there any truth to this? If so, I find that a big mistake. High school coaches can have a lot of input with their players.

I've been told by a few in state coaches that MSU consistently stays in contact with many HS programs. One of my best friends is a head coach. He says it is not even close in the efforts by the schools. MSU, is working way harder to get the Montana players.

I have heard the same type of rumblings.

Hashley committed to the Cats today. So far Troy Anderson, Tadan Gilman and now Hashley are all Cats.

here you go

I think there are several things happening. These are just what I am seeing.

1- yes, msu is being much more agressive in state
2- UM has a wait and see approach. I.E. Even though these appear to be great football players
None of them has played their senior years
3- Hashley and the beaver head HS player were or are influenced by family ties
4- I have stated several times that UM has done terrible job with the Glacier team
Not Bennetts fault but Stitt and The previous coach both have dropped the ball
(See Horn, Haliburton, Jeffries, etc... I think it's there are 6 current and two new verbals)
5- UM and Stitt think instate kids can "afford" to play for less because of instate cost
(This is not uncommon throughout all coaching recruiting-nationwide)
6- Stitt places weight on academics, so that he can use academic Scollies
7- (my least favorite), I think the coaching staff values out of state players more.
8- Stitt wants the best players he can get, so I hope/believe he has those kids
Highest on his wish list.

Raider is having a massive MI reading your post...........

This just supports once again why I am not a Stitt fan. Look, I am not a Montana native, and only live in Montana a portion of the year, but I understand the importance of building the base of our team with Montana bred players. I will not go into the many reasons, as I have posted them before and taken lots of shots for stating them. But I stand firmly by the notion that we will never get back to a national championship caliber team unless we go back to owning the in-state recruiting. There is just too much competition for the good out-of-state players to expect to stock our entire roster with them. Furthermore, the top 7-8 in-state kids can match or surpass many of the out-of-staters we recruit in most years. Focusing on out-of-state players is the approach the Cats used to take, and it never worked. We dominated them. But it seems like the have made a commitment to rule the in-state recruiting, while Stitt and staff have pulled back. I predict this will bite us in the arse.
