havgrizfan said:I have my frustrations with Ty's defense, not the least of which is his ability to lead. He is like a father figure to Coyle and Tripp and many others who have played under him at UM. My issue if he were to apply for the head coaching job at UM, which I'm certain he will once it's vacant, which it's not in 2014, and very well might not be again in 2015, would be the fact that he was turned down for the head job at Montana Tech. How could Haslam justify hiring someone for a prestigious head coaching job such as Montana when that person couldn't get an NAIA head coaching job. And please, Hammer and Oredigger, I have plenty of respect for Tech, and I happen to think Chuck Morrell is a good coach and great guy, so don't think I'm knocking Tech. I'm just saying there's a reason Ty didn't get that job, and instead, he's a candidate for the head coach at UM? Not in my book. But, I also agree with Brint, that's not for me to judge or say actually. Unlike others on this board, I'm FULLY AWARE and fully accepting of the fact that I will play NO role in who the next head coach of the Grizzlies will be.
That, my friend, is some SERIOUSLY fucked up logic. Unless you were actually IN the room when he was rejected for the Tech job, you have no idea why the decision was made. Many, many times it's about personality fits, preferred leadership styles, etc., etc., and not just about the X's and O's of football. Just because Tech's AD didn't think Ty was a good fit for THEM doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good fit for US.
