Haslam: BK deserves a longer contract

I would be cool with 2 but definitely hesitant on 3. Yes, possibly if we went 8-4 there would be some serious concern about retaining him but I don't see us losing 4 regular season games. Not with this team and staff. BK would have to be an absolute shit show for that to happen. Next year? Maybe.
I feel the same. Also, what kind of 8-4 we talking about? 8-4 and one and done (no quarter-final appearance) in the playoffs is way different than 8-4 with semi-final appearance.

There's always a chance you're gonna lose players after a season, even if the coach sticks around. Hell, we lost more this last year than I think any other year under Hauck in the NIL era. I've kind of already just assumed we'll probably lose at least Ah Yat and Davis after this season, even if BK gets extended.

BK did a great job keeping guys in the 2nd transfer window, but I think any good coach we found should be able to keep a lot of them, too, and if not, that's why you go get a guy that can handle it and build the program even without them.
I think a thing to consider with the 2nd transfer window is that for the most part, most rosters were full by then. Obviously with Gilman or KAY, other teams would create room for them, but in general I think the transferring out was limited by when it happened in the cycle. Which I believe was Hauck’s plan.

Is this the list of kittens who left during 2nd window?

Jhase McMillan – CB
- Carson Williams – CB
- Seth Johnson – CB
- Cedric Jefferson – OT
- Hunter Provience – TE
- Jacob Trimble – WR
- Major Thornhill – DE
- Chance Wilson – QB
- Ife Ohalete – DB
- Jackson Harmon – DB

I think you’re confused.

Players are allowed to transfer for something like two weeks after a HC leaves. For UM, this occurred after the transfer portal had already closed. The MSU players left during the open transfer portal, just like Colin Amick. Also, fwiw, Cedric Jefferson transferred out over a year ago. He wasn’t on the 2025 roster for MSU.

I'm not confused - you are clueless.

Despite the HC leaving window being wide open - players did not leave. They could have and they didn't. BS - "rosters are full." Spring football breaks the hearts of plenty of dudes...especially when upgrades are available.

Griz retention after the coach rotation was impressive - don't undercut it.

And virtually every team has more scholarships available in February. Especially with the new FBS limit.

I think this is just an incredibly stupid thing for an AD to say. You either give him the extension or not. You negotiate in the background not make off handed comments to the media he’d like to give him one.

I think BK is doing great so far but as you guys know as soon he loses a game the pressure is on.

Yeah and then when he doesn't say anything, folks (not specifically you, Day), will whine and complain about "lack of transparency". 😂

You got defensive because I asked you a question. And you never answered the question. The reason I asked you the question had nothing to do with your view on the length of the contract.
I would suggest that my belief that he should have received a 2-year deal would make a rational person deduce that I wasn't overly worried about how year one turned out. Now, don't get defensive about me pointing out that I didn't get defensive, just realize you asked a question any normal person would realize was already answered.

With all due respect, outside of several players, there really aren't any who have proven enough to move upwards. Gilman, KAY, Davis and Wing were the only players that realistically would have had an opportunity to leave if they wanted to.

This seems like a silly thing to say when we had 3-5 guys from last year's team who transferred up who you probably would've said the exact same thing about a few months ago.

That’s fair. I still can’t believe Ramos and Otlewski were able to find spots. I always thought they were just fine.

...and zero did. That's the point.

Keep digging.

Nope. My question was separate and had nothing to do with your view on term of contract or extension. Zero.

Your question to the poster was you being your normal dick self.

Nope, you came into the middle of a discussion, sticking your little pecker in like always, without knowing the background.

Hey, FU. I asked a question. You were being a dick. I needed no info or background to ask the question. Especially didn’t. Especially didn’t need to know your view. You do this all the time. And then you just keep digging your hole. I suppose it’s because you don’t know much about the game of football.

And you still can explain the question-comment I responded to. Because it made no sense.

Babble on.
