Notice it said Missoula/Montana. If you’re telling me that Jones, Crews, Grebe, Eiden, Brot, both Dowlers, etc. weren’t a huge part of their success and culture then I don’t know what to tell you. The chip on the shoulder for the 2 Missoula guys alone has been quite evident. Pretty sure both played big parts in beating us in Missoula this year setting up the trip to Bozeman for the semis.

I was focusing on Missoula recruiting in my posts. My view is that too many people post on their narratives and not on the facts. That's my big gripe fairly often. I'm happy to have a discussion based on the facts.
Yes, those on your list were some of the good Cat players. But Brot didn't have hardly any tackles until the championship game. He was overrated, in my view, and hurt. I would take any of the top Griz running backs over Jones. He was overrated coming into the season too. Eiden was very good and had a nice season. Same with the Dowlers. Crews was fine, but nothing special.
Yes, the Cats beat the Griz twice and won the championship. Great for the Cats. As I have said, the Cats were fortunate to win in Missoula, and the Griz let that one get away from them. In the game in Bozeman, had the Cats not taken out 2 of UM's key offensive players early in the game with dirty plays, the game might have developed differently. The Cats were unbelievably lucky in the 2d half to win the championship. The Cats got it done, and the Griz didn't. Again, great for the Cats.
Some posters seem to believe the Cats beat the Grizzlies twice and won the championship because they got good players from Missoula, or MT. I don't agree with that. That was a small part of the Cat equation. The QB the Cats got was their most important player, by far. Good for the Cats getting and developing him. He was very good and hurt the Grizzlies in both games, for a second team all-conference player.
Because he wasn’t always that way - and just because he put the blinders on to in town/state kids after Covid doesn’t mean he’s a bad coach - it became really clear he really dropped the ball in this realm

Thanks, Billings. The narrative posters will just attack you. Won’t provide analysis. The probably think a net couple of MT recruits for Cats is more important than net 15 portal recruits for Griz. The one that killed me, is when I seen Zac Crews blow up a play in the backfield in the semi-final this year. I'm not sure if we recruited Adam Jones, but that was sure a miss!

The Zac Crews situation was a one-off, and his own fault. Anyone else that UM lost out on is fair game for criticism but not him.
The issue with Hauck was not just about offers. We offered some of the same kids for sure that the Cats landed. It was attitude.
Hauck had an attitude that these kids should be lucky to be Griz, that they should want to be a Grizzly and that he and his staff didn’t have to go out of their ways to make them feel wanted.
Vigen and his staff were the opposite. They put on the full court press on these kids. I talked to Adam Jones dad once and he said the recruiting of his son couldn’t have been more different between the two programs. It seems BK is reversing that and using the full court press method and making sure these kids know they are wanted.
That was the difference with Hauck and his lackadaisical effort. No less and no more. It’s not rocket science.
That is completely inaccurate. It amazes me that guys like you feel entitled to get on a message board and bloviate about a 17-year-old's decision that you clearly no nothing about.

I try to never say anything negative about players or their families, because that is uncouth and just not who I want to be. That being said, the narrative that Adam Jones and his family have put out over the last couple of years is absolutely bullshit. Sometimes people say things so many times they start to believe it.
The actual facts of the situation were that Adam Jones was posting online about how much he was loving the recruiting from the Griz, great visits he had, etc. Then the Crews situation happens, who was his friend and teammate, and Jones chooses the Cats. Now his parents are telling people that he grew up wanting to be a Griz, his bedroom was full of Griz stuff, but the Griz staff didn't recruit him or even really try to get him.
How do we know that is a lie? Because ADAM JONES HIMSELF posted online at the time about loving his visit and the love he was getting from the Griz coaching staff. Yea, the Griz had Eli and probably weren't as desperately going after him as if he was water and the team was dying of thirst, but at the time he was very positive about the Griz recruiting him. Crews happened, and everything changed. Now the family has one hell of a narrative that they spread around.
It is dumb, and quite honestly bugged me over the last couple of years when I even hear from my family members about how one of his parents told them the Griz didn't even offer him or recruit him, which is probably not what they said but is how the game of telephone works in a town the size of Missoula.
I am glad for the CLEAR improvement in local attention from Coach BK and the staff, and I'm sure they will be at a lot more high school events locally this year, but the narrative put out by the Jones family has kept evolving to the point that it is just not honest.
Lets take a little trip back through memory lane and we can see if the Griz were putting effort into recruiting Jones....
I wish his family would just say that a lot of people locally were upset about Zac Crews' situation, and the MSU Bobcats were doing a hell of a job recruiting. But to spin it into "The Griz didn't even really try to recruit our son" is just factually wrong.
