Your opinion is not worth much if anything. You ran away from griz football and yet you continue to come here to post stuff about a team you disowned. It's the egriz way lol. Or at least some posters' way...
You're such a liar. Post proof that I ever said I disowned the team.Your opinion is not worth much if anything. You ran away from griz football and yet you continue to come here to post stuff about a team you disowned.
And my view is that the narrative on the bad or weak approach is not true, or pretty much not true. Green never operated like that, nor did other Griz coaches. I highly doubt that Bobby did either. I know lots of very positive experiences regarding Bobby over the years, including recruits with Cat parents. That concept seems to be just too much for billings to grasp.
So are you suggesting that the Griz coaches did more to recruit these kids but still lost them to MSU?And my view is that the narrative on the bad or weak approach is not true, or pretty much not true. He wasn't interested in coming here when BH was the head coach. The guy wouldn't make the drive across town.Did he commit to the cats and change his commitment?
at least according to people around him. (his sisters friend) so it could be bs. But like I can't imagine shed of just said that when I brought up him going to the griz in Oct.He wasn't interested in coming here when BH was the head coach. The guy wouldn't make the drive across town.
He didn’t say they didn’t try to recruit him….it was obvious they were talking to him and gave him an offer. He said it was “night and day” how the Griz compared to the Cats approach in that recruitment. It was an absolute full court press by the cats and their staff versus a ho hum you should want to be here by the Griz.I try to never say anything negative about players or their families, because that is uncouth and just not who I want to be. That being said, the narrative that Adam Jones and his family have put out over the last couple of years is absolutely bullshit. Sometimes people say things so many times they start to believe it.
The actual facts of the situation were that Adam Jones was posting online about how much he was loving the recruiting from the Griz, great visits he had, etc. Then the Crews situation happens, who was his friend and teammate, and Jones chooses the Cats. Now his parents are telling people that he grew up wanting to be a Griz, his bedroom was full of Griz stuff, but the Griz staff didn't recruit him or even really try to get him.
How do we know that is a lie? Because ADAM JONES HIMSELF posted online at the time about loving his visit and the love he was getting from the Griz coaching staff. Yea, the Griz had Eli and probably weren't as desperately going after him as if he was water and the team was dying of thirst, but at the time he was very positive about the Griz recruiting him. Crews happened, and everything changed. Now the family has one hell of a narrative that they spread around.
It is dumb, and quite honestly bugged me over the last couple of years when I even hear from my family members about how one of his parents told them the Griz didn't even offer him or recruit him, which is probably not what they said but is how the game of telephone works in a town the size of Missoula.
I am glad for the CLEAR improvement in local attention from Coach BK and the staff, and I'm sure they will be at a lot more high school events locally this year, but the narrative put out by the Jones family has kept evolving to the point that it is just not honest.
Lets take a little trip back through memory lane and we can see if the Griz were putting effort into recruiting Jones....
I wish his family would just say that a lot of people locally were upset about Zac Crews' situation, and the MSU Bobcats were doing a hell of a job recruiting. But to spin it into "The Griz didn't even really try to recruit our son" is just factually wrong.
I have been told multiple times on this here board that this is false...He didn’t say they didn’t try to recruit him….it was obvious they were talking to him and gave him an offer. He said it was “night and day” how the Griz compared to the Cats approach in that recruitment. It was an absolute full court press by the cats and their staff versus a ho hum you should want to be here by the Griz.
I know right. It’s like I didn’t talk directly to his father first-hand at one of Adam’s legion baseball games and got that info directly. Adam was damn good at baseball too.I have been told multiple times on this here board that this is false...
To quote Hillary, "What difference does it make now?"I have been told multiple times on this here board that this is false...
Yes. But like you, I don’t know the facts. Recruits often make decisions for reasons other than how hard or well they were recruited. Had you played college ball or had kids who did, you would probably know that.So are you suggesting that the Griz coaches did more to recruit these kids but still lost them to MSU?
Anyone who makes a decision based on that is not going to get far in life, is my view. My god, that is just plain dumb.Adam Jones said in an interview that one of things that impressed him the most was Bobby Daly coming over to Missoula to watch his Legion Baseball games and visit with him.
I would base my decision on what was said by coaches and how they said it. Not on whether someone would drive across town. I would base my decision more on what the position coach and recruiting coordinator said. If this is how recruits are now, I can see why Bobby didn’t want to be a head coach. He wasn't interested in coming here when BH was the head coach. The guy wouldn't make the drive across town.
I wouldn’t assume that and certainly wouldn’t based on what you said. Ya, maybe they. Maybe they didn’t. Decisions get made for many reasons.Maybe, but you should also assume they just did a better job. (This is accurate by the way)
Well unlike you, I don't think this makes it better. To outwork them and continually losing isn't any better than getting outworked in the first place.Yes. But like you, I don’t know the facts. Recruits often make decisions for reasons other than how hard or well they were recruited. Had you played college ball or had kids who did, you would probably know that.
I I just think it's that going the extra mile thing (quite literally, it’s a mile across town). Like for a kid like Eli that knows he can go D1, the little things like having a coach pull you out of class, and yes, send you a personal graphic they took 5 minutes out of their day to make, will make a slight difference in how they perceive which school wants them more. But alas, it doesn't really matter anymore. I'd rather not argue about BH and embrace the BK era. He has really grown on me. I see him walking around campus all the time and in a different way than BH ever did. He is so kind, friendly, and approachable. He thanks every worker in the lodge when he goes to eat. He eats every meal with his staff and players. Well, I believe BH is a helluva coach and wish him the best at Illinois. It’s a nice, fresh start for the Montana Grizzlies and certainly a welcome one.I would base my decision on what was said by coaches and how they said it. Life and jobs aren’t going to be like some of these recruits apparently want. I hope their football careers are going to be nice, but his isn’t going to train and guide them for life.
this is something the cats have always done better. I've seen vigen and his football staff at a lot of highschool track meets doubling down on their guys.Adam Jones said in an interview that one of things that impressed him the most was Bobby Daly coming over to Missoula to watch his Legion Baseball games and visit with him.
What position will Eli play?I I just think it's that going the extra mile thing (quite literally, it’s a mile across town).
