NDSU is gone

The biggest mark against Idaho was the remote location. Facilities too, but being in the middle of nowhere was a big problem. Especially when those fucking retreads networks started making decisions solely on the number of tv's in the school's footprint.
I disagree with Idaho's remote location being the reason why Idaho failed in the FBS. The primary reason why Idaho failed in the FBS is it had no home, no regional teams to compete against after the collapse of the WAC. Idaho was doomed to fail in 2013 when they had to go the independent route. The Sun Belt was not a sustainable option for the four years they were a member until the Sun Belt kicked the Vandals out. And since the team was not going to be a member of the PAC12 or the Mountain West, the only option was to move back down to the Big Sky.

Facilities are definitely a piece of the puzzle, but the biggest problem 100% was Idaho's inability to have a western FBS conference to call home.

I was told Idaho's biggest problem was lack of good funding after the move up. Whereas Boise had a ton.

You know who had a ZERO percent chance? Every team not in the field, including, but not limited to, every FCS team, ever, in the history of everdom.

Would you be happier if your Vandals played in the big dance, or would it be more meaningful if they made the CIT final four?
It will never cease to amaze me the let's-stay-fcs-folk simply cannot see these things as equals.

Yeah FCS... doesn't participation trophies don't count champ. Put NDSU up against ANY top P4 team and the mighty fat cows get crushed every single time. They couldn't even beat a crap Colorado team. NDSU fans are delusional. The fat cows will NEVER win a real College football National Championship.
FCS is the highest NCAA football championship.

We're basically going to be Division 2 if we don't move soon.
I think that’s a really simplistic view of the landscape of college football and its future. And where the UM will fit into it. When the P4 break off, the rest of the FBS will essentially become D2. Maybe not in name but definitely in everything that matters. Haslam has already alluded to the fact that both MSU and UM are doing everything they can to make the schools ready to jump when that happens.

Listen Fucko, I'm the only one here with experience of being a big sky program that moved up. Then we moved down.

FCS is better and it's not close. G6 is just a few reanimated corpses wandering around looking for direction. I absolutely HATED that we dropped down. I stopped my monthly donation and told off the president and AD. Now, having seen some success in FCS and playing team like the Griz and even Cats, I'm here to tell you that the FCS is the fucking place to be if you're not a big program - especially until the realignment and NIL issues are worked out.

Bro. You're arguing my case about a remote location. Look, NDSU is going to face it - fortunately they have the scratch to make things attractive.

But as I said before, once NDSU begins living on a steady diet of .500 seasons, they'll know.

Also, FBS caliber players are going to be hard to draw to the frozen tundra. Just wait.

Compared to moving up like Idaho did and it seems Sac State is dead set on doing the FCS is far better. NDSU is moving up strategically which is what MSU and UM are waiting for the opportunity to do.

NDSU has a good conference fit with the Mountain West which Idaho didn’t have. The trips are further than the MVFC but it isn’t going all across the country. Stylistically NDSU fits well in the conference. They will be competitive.

Going to Hawaii is more than across the entire country

NDSU will win the MWC this season
It wasn’t dominance right away in the move up to D1 either. I expect a couple seasons where NDSU shows flashes of greatness and is competitive but isn’t consistently great. If all goes well NDSU should win the conference in year 3 or 4.
