I will be curious....why Kennedy? The obvious choice if an Athletic Director is making the decision would have been Pease to be the intirim. But we all know the AD isn't making decisions here.

Why do people keep saying that the AD isn't making the decisions.
He is not interim. He has a one year contract as HC.
If the insinuation is that Bobby is the one making the decision, you clearly missed that he recommended Kennedy be the guy.
Doesn't mean it's the right way to go.

I don't think Pease is any more of an obvious choice than Kennedy is. You're rolling the dice to some degree with either of them.

Pease has experience managing a staff. Bobby Kennedy doesn't from what Ive seen. To me, that makes one more obvious than the other.
Hardly semantics. An interim has no commitment and can be launched at any time. The HC contract commits to the position for the year and locks in a year's pay.
I don't personally see that as necessary as a criteria for becoming a good head coach. We've seen coaches at the FCS level in the past able to jump into fantastic success without having coordinator/head coach experience.
it's just conjecture, but it seems very unlikely that this was unplanned. my guess is that sometime in the past month or so, hauck had told haslam he was thinking about retiring, and that he should have a contingency plan for head coach. then hauck lobbied for kennedy. seems like he pretty much assured the hire by telling haslam his final decision the day before signing day.
it's all probably the opposite, but hey, what's life without conjecture?
Pease is a good coach. I don't know at this point if being head coach is something he would even consider. He is pretty gruff too and probably would hate the press conferences more than Bobby. It is a very demanding job and I would say that whomever does it loses their entire private life. You are the most visible person in Missoula and the most criticized. Look at some of the venom that was directed at Bobby and his family and Stitt and his family. Griz football is great and I love it but being the only show in a town of 70,000 the head coach of the Griz lives in a fishbowl. Shit Kennedy has had the job for 6 hours and people are already starting on him.

Don't think Haslam was the AD. O'Day had just been fired and Haslam hadn't been hired. Engsrom hired Delaney.

Looks like a terrific decision and transition by Haslam and the other decision makers. Should keep the players and coaches in place. And, while the players were informed this morning, they didn't miss their morning lift.
