I think BK is going to do a very good job, Griz will have a good season, I doubt they beat the cats but they will have a typical Griz season.
Totally agree. Continuity is important in a sports program, for the fans (who pay the bills) and the players. This has been proven time and again, even in the elite programs. Yes, there are exceptions, but those are dwarfed by the number of programs that went in the toilet when they tried to totally abandon a culture and tradition. With NIL and the portal. this may well change, but I do not think we're there yet.Looks like a terrific decision and transition by Haslam and the other decision makers. Should keep the players and coaches in place. And, while the players were informed this morning, they didn't miss their morning lift.
If my choice is to hear your opinion vs Bobby Hauck's opinion...guessing I would lean on the legends opinion.Doesn't mean it's the right way to go.
Exactly - there are European Football coaches just waiting for opportunities in D1 football. This talk of a national search is stupid. We needed to do an international search. How would we know we are getting the right guy for the job if we limit the search to the US? Coaching Searches Without Borders. I’ve been saying it for years.
Flip side is they have a bad year, coach leaves and player bounce anyway.Doing a national search right now would have been the absolute worst idea. The staff and a ton of players would have bounced. This is literally the only way they have a chance of keeping staff and players here. Kennedy is basically on a 1 year contract anyways to be reevaluated. I think this was a smart move and the only move.
Correct. But it also does not mean it is not the right way to go. I do not know what conversations went on with staff, players, and administration.Doesn't mean it's the right way to go.
When/if that happens I’ll say Bobby should have left earlier. What will all the neggies say if the Griz beat the Cats, win the conference and win the championship next season?
Ted Lasso comes to mind. This talk of a national search is stupid. We needed to do an international search. How would we know we are getting the right guy for the job if we limit the search to the US? Coaching Searches Without Borders. I’ve been saying it for years.
QB Club with Ted LassoTed Lasso comes to mind.
There could be, and we’ll find out soon, but I do think there’s an element of for both UM and msu that this place recruits itself. Especially when it comes to in state recruiting, kids just wanna be Grizzlies. They don’t necessarily care who the coach is. I think we’ll be ok.I know what I would be thinking if this were happening at MSU, so I thought I'd pose the question here.
Is there any concern from you guys about recruiting with Haslam saying that this is a one year deal and then they'll re-evaluate? Seems to me like it's somewhat of a lameduck situation, but perhaps I'm mistaken. I also realize that Vigen could be leaving any year, but usually when a coach moves up there's an internal replacement, if Kennedy isn't retained, it would probably be an outside hire and I do think that's a different message recruiting wise. In short, if it were me, I'd be concerned about recruiting...players might not want to come if it's being viewed as the HC having little job security.
Out of state recruiting as well. The game day environment at Montana is the best in the FCS. In state and out of state recruits can see this. There could be, and we’ll find out soon, but I do think there’s an element of for both UM and msu that this place recruits itself. I mean what's the alternative, though? Given the timing, would it really have been better for us to launch into a national search right now? That pretty much guarantees all the work they've done recruiting and keeping guys this offseason would go to waste, and any new coach would have to plug any holes caused by guys leaving with nothing but castoffs who couldn't find a home during the portal period.I know what I would be thinking if this were happening at MSU, so I thought I'd pose the question here.

When is Haslam going to prove himself?I have a feeling Pease may be out the door himself in a year or 2, he will stick around for 2026 to give an experienced hand and to assist Kennedy but after that I personally doubt it.
I also think BK is an interim HC in all but name since he has to "prove himself" per Haslam and only a 1 year Contract, with how he coached up our WRs last year I'm hopeful he can do that with the entire team.
Normally I would agree….. but it seems like 90% of those recruits have wanted to Bobcats more than Grizzlies as of late. Then again the coaching staff needs to actually try and win these guys over, which I think will have a good shot at happening now. There could be, and we’ll find out soon, but I do think there’s an element of for both UM and msu that this place recruits itself. That’s a nice fantasy…What will all the neggies say if the Griz beat the Cats, win the conference and win the championship next season?
