Final grades for the 2025 Grizzlies

He is talking about special teams.

The center does not snap the ball on special teams plays.

Pibal didn't have a single bad snap all year.
I thought the snap on the poorly held extra point turned failed 2 point attempt in Bozeman was a little high. Davis might have been able to still get it down if he wasn’t injured but the snap is supposed to come in at the chest level of the holder and the snap on that one came in at his head level.

Plus he's a never played the gamer.
Brint is a great observer. He gets alot of good info. He is good friends with several of the coaches. In QB Club. Knows some parents. A never-played-the-gamer is someone who shows he never played the game with his (dumb) posts, in my parlance. Brint does not make dumb posts. Many people never played the game, but they don't show it or act like it in what they say or post. Is that hard for you to understand?

I usually agree with you 100%, but have to take issue with "- No issues on short or long snaps all season". I saw a ton of near misses on high snaps to the the quarterback, particularly in the last part of the season. I commented SEVERAL times that it was a good thing that Ah Yat had good jumping ability, along with concentrating on the snap, and having the ball, before starting to execute the plays.
Snaps on special teams!

Snaps on offense were an issue for sure.

I don't agree with many of the grades. They aren't right. A 13-2 team that goes to the semis and beats 4 MV teams, including SDSU and USD in the playoffs, deserves much higher grades. The grades seem to be influenced by some of the clowns on podcasts that Brint associates with. The ones with axes to grind. Benchwarmers.
I agree with Hoops. No quarterback for Montana should receive an A when they can’t beat the cats and the defense led the country in giving up big plays and should receive an F. The offensive line grade needs to be an incomplete unless you’ve attached the number of negative plays that happened on their watch. Coaches would get an F.

He made dumb post when he thumbs up that quarterback club funds go to fund nutrition when the only nutrition the university provides are protein shakes in the championship center.

Another thoughtful write up Brint! Not that it matters but I agree with every grade except special teams. I would grade them out as C+/B- due to the two special team turnovers, one that almost cost us the win versus Eastern Washington, and lack of special team wins except for the PR TD versus South Dakota.

Special teams:

- return game didn't flip the field as much as it has in prior years
- coverage teams were good
- Morrison was a good punter but not an accurate kicker, tough year. Silver as a replacement was 3-3 on shorter attempts, really didn't get to see if he was accurate from range
- Davis was good at holding and 2 point plays, when he got hurt in MSU the backup immediately mis-held a snap
- KR unit lost two turnovers, one they were stunned on against EWU and didn't know how to react, PSU had a plan to kick at the D-lineman
- No issues on short or long snaps all season

It wasn't a "bad" unit but it wasn't elite like it's been in prior years
Punting wasn’t really relied upon to flip the field as much in years past due to the offense converting and moving the ball much more efficiently than in the past several years.

Did Pibal have a bad snap his whole career. He was as solid as OD

Our punting had some wins.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I was just funning. A little joshing.

I don’t think he had a single bad snap, no.

Davis would have fielded it and placed it down for the kick. I am Brint’s agent.
You are probably correct about Davis correctly fielding it. It wasn’t horrible by any means but I think it could be considered off target depending on what your parameters are. Long snappers are often unfairly expected to be perfect even though perfection is not possible. Pibal was pretty close that one in Bozeman is the only one I remember being off at all and like you said Davis probably would have still fielded it.

What are your parameters for a bad snap and what is your take on the snap on the poor extra point hold turned into failed 2 point conversion?
It was barely high, basically at his facemask dead center. He didn't have to change his position or reach at all. That's a perfectly good snap. Brooks would've gotten it down just fine.

Pibal has been money his entire career.

We had no returning starters on defense and we were still second in the Big Sky in overall defense running a complex scheme and Ah Yat progressed to being the only 4,000 yard passer in the nation this season from splitting time with Fife last season and you want to give our coaching staff an F? Our overall offense was first in the Big Sky and 4th nationally. How is coaching the 1/12 Big Sky offense and 2/12 Big Sky defense to a 13-2 record and the semifinals an F? You do realize 13-2 is a lot closer to 16-0 than 0-12?
