Glacier QB

They are really non-binding financial agreements, but I see them referred to as contracts over and over. I think just confusion.
The ambiguity is the point I guess. The NCAA f’ed this up so bad that the only thing that will save it is legislation which rarely fixes anything. Seeing coaches walk away from multi million dollar salaries should be a wake-up call. As if there hasn’t been alarm bells ringing for years and years. A couple more years and we won’t be able to squabble on egriz because what we all know and love will not exist.

Employees change jobs all the time, why should that be different for college coaches? Now if said coach wants to be a giant dirt bag a bail a day after all these kids commit to him, that is a personal reflection of him.

You misread. When a coach like Kleiman is willing to walk away due to what the landscape has become you have a problem. He’s just one example. The cracks are becoming chasms in the current landscape. I have no problem with coaches taking other opportunities. But walking away from the game completely is another thing

I am not going to disagree about the issues, but the game is never going back. There will be more like Kleiman that leave because of the changes, but coaches leave all the time.

Nothing goes back. Is the game beyond saving at this point then by your assertion? As I stated before if that is the case then when does it cease to exist? When sports fully separate from universities and lose that connection, and turn into minor leagues, where does the passion and fandom go? Is it sustainable?

Good post. The highlighted section is the major risk to college athletics.

I think when/if the money runs out, especially outside the P4, then the lower divisions will begin to revert back. But it will never be the same and the divide will only widen between the haves and have nots. Everything outside the P4 will be similar to minors.

In College football, for the most part, the G5's, FCS, D2/3/JUCO are all just minor leagues like baseball now. You got your AAA - G5's; AA's - FCS; A - D2; Rookie Leagues - D3/JUCO's. That's just how I see it.

Agree….If he wants to walk on I’d be ok, but turning us down for MSU then to the pyramid scam hornets no way offer any money especially since we signed one that committed to us first and isn’t looking for somewhere “settle for “.
Will be interesting to see where he lands
