When is it going to leak out or get announced that Vigen is departing?

Hoops is one of the best Griz supporters, loyal to a fault. If he could shut off the snarky insults he may even be likable. (snark intended) His belief & so many griz fans belief that the tide hasn't turned is simply delusional. Listen to Andrew Schmidt's interview on big sky breakdown from yesterday. He nailed it. This isn't trolling, not a bit with the exception of insulting Hoops.
What are you talking about? I have never ever addressed whether a tide has turned. Never. Please don’t make up stuff. Stick to what I say and said. Everything I just said is correct, as well as supported.

Just a heads up #41 Brott was injured and came out of the game vs Davis in the 3rd quarter (I belive) and was playing hurt vs us, might have limited his production a bit.
Look at his season numbers. 15 tackles and 1 sack. You realize that many players are playing hurt at this time of season. If he is too hurt to play effectively, he should not be on the field. For the entire season, he has 15 tackles and 1 sack more than you and me. 21st “leading” tackler tor Cats. That is pathetic.

I think Vigen would only leave for a p5 job. Cats will be very good next year and then his son will likely be in the position to have a chance to be the starter. He will 100% leave soon but I think he will stick around for a couple more, unless he gets a p4 job.
This seems like major cope.

The guy has spent part of the last two playoff runs interviewing for other coaching jobs. That doesn't sound like a guy holding out for a P4 job.

He clearly either didn't get the job, or decided he didn't want to leave MSU early.

Third option, his statement is a cover to buy more time while they finalize the deal. That statement was about as committed as my first wedding proposal. Not very. We shall see

I am really not sure this statement means anything other than right now I am the bubs coach

Was she hot though?

It wasn’t the line play in the game. Coulter and Brooks don’t know what they are talking about. It was the Griz not having an answer for the QB, a tipped pass pick 6, the Griz not stepping up to stop the last drive, and a few bad ball bounces. The Griz OL in more pass plays gave up 2 sacks. In fewer passes, the Cat OL gave up 4 sacks. The Griz averaged a yard or so more per carry in the ground. The Griz backs ran for more yards than the Cat backs and averaged more per carry. Gillman ran for more yards and more yards per carry.

The top 2 Cat DL had 2 tackles each and 1 sack between them. 41 didn’t have a sack. That no. 41 is completely overrated. He shouldn’t have been all conference. He had 15 tackles and I think 1 sack for the season. For the SEASON. He was the Cats’ 21st leading for the season. That’s all conference? That guy 11 is a good player, and good actor.

By contrast, Hayden Harris had 52 tackles, 17 TFL’s and 9.5 sacks last year.
The last 6 minutes of the game, when the Griz needed a stop, they couldn’t get it. Yes Lameson was an elusive runner and did a lot to hurt. But everyone KNEW the cats were gonna clock it at the end and the Griz could do nothing about it. For all the issues with the lines this year, Hauck and co did a pretty good job scheming out the weaknesses. But in the end, with the game on the line, the cats RAN. And nobody could stop them. That’s the difference. They couldn’t get the stop because the cats established the line of scrimmage 2-3 yards forward.

I think the Griz responded very well to every punch that the cats threw. The played with pride, they were intense, they never quit. In the end though, they were ground down. Against a good power run team, you can’t play linebackers as linemen.

On O? The ONLY reason Ah Yat wasn’t sacked more is because he has amazing pocket presence and is deceptively elusive.

Vamos, can you tell us how the below stats and comments support what the Nuanez brothers said about the difference being the better Cat lines? I see nothing from the game that supports that view. This was part of my longer post in another thread several days ago.

"The Cats didn't run all over the Griz at all. Not even close. Yes, on the last drive. Good on the Cats, bad on the Griz. And the QB had a big game. Good on him and the Cats, bad on the Griz. That can be fixed by the Griz with changes in the scheme, and will also be helped by the return of Loud (I assume he's coming back) because his return will allow the D to do more things to combat the QB run.

Yes, again, the QB had a nice day and too nice of a day. But the two running backs had only 107 yards until the last drive, and then got up to 154 yards. Long runs of 25 and 15. The Cats had 268 on the ground for the day. Slightly over their average. But they averaged slightly less per rush than their season average. Cats averaged 5.7 per rush; Griz averaged 6.4 per rush.

Gillman was 15-132, or 8.8 per carry. Wortham was 3-40. So, 172 for the 2 UM backs. So, the Griz backs had more yardage than the Cat backs, on fewer carries.
Yes, yes, I know the QB too.

Would you say the Griz ran all over the Cats? Or, at least that the Griz running backs ran all over the Cats. Again, they had more yards and yards per carry than the Cat RB's.

To me, the summary is that the Cat QB had a good running game, and the Griz lacked there. That was the running difference, and maybe the difference in the game. The Cats also had a very nice drive at end of game and a few other short periods of good running.

The Cat backs averaged 7.1 and 5.3 yards per carry. Considerably less than Gillman and the top backs did.

The Cats won't win against the Griz in Bozeman, and certainly not by 2/3 scores (unless you are talking extra points).

As I have said, the Griz should have Loud back, which will help the D and pass D significantly. The Griz will have a better scheme to stop the QB, and that will be helped by Loud's return. I'd bet that T. Hauck and Baer already have the new scheme drawn up. The QB isn't going to complete 90% of his passes again. It's hard to beat a team twice in a row. Hopefully, the Griz will make fewer mistakes and don't miss as many key tackles. Hopefully, the ball bounces more in the Griz direction than it did on Saturday.

I'm sure it will be good or great game.

[And the stats I already posted about the top 2 Cat DL having 2 tackles apiece and 1 sack. And the Griz OL giving 2 sacks when Ah Yat threw 32 times. And the Cat OL gave up 4 sacks when it's QB threw 20 times. The top 5 Griz DL had 4, 4, 3, 2, 2 tackles, and 3 sacks among them.

Again, how do any of these stats show that the Cat lines were the difference?]

Yes, I have said multiple times that the Griz couldn't stop the last drive and let the QB have too many good runs. However, I also looked at the stats of the whole game and have posted them multiple times including in this thread. Why didn't the Nuanez brothers focus on the one long drive and end of the game and the QB running instead of saying the lines were the difference. The Griz running game by the running backs was better than the Cats, and Gillman was better than the Cats' backs, anyway you measure it.

No one would disagree with what you, and I, and other Griz posters, said about the last drive and the Cat QB. I also point out that the running by the Cat QB was caused more by the weak Griz D scheme to contain him, as well as by multiple missed tackles by the Griz defender in position to make the tackle. Sometimes in good position. Those things have nothing to do with the Cat OL.

Don't agree on Ah Yat and sacks. The Griz OL has been protecting the pocket very well over at least the last half of the season. And, several games ago, I got that directly from the coaches, including Hauck.

I don't agree that the Griz were ground down either, but on that, I'd have to ask the coaches and players to know for sure.

The game turned on a few plays. The Cats made more of them than the Griz. Good on the Cats. And the ball bounced the Cats way more than the Griz. I believe the Griz will correct several things and have Loud back, and will beat the Cats later in the playoffs assuming they play.

This is the way discussions on egriz should occur more often. Thx.

Pretty non-committal statement released at a convenient time by msus athletic department. No extension announced, doesn’t say anything about excited about coaching in 2026 and beyond. Just excited about….coaching the team? Okay.

This from a friend living in Eugene and a big Duck fan. He pays the Canzano paywall.

"So now Vigen is off the board. Conventional wisdom says he dropped out because he knew he wasn’t going to get the job. Shepard at Alabama is the only one of the original three finalists left. Wilcox thought to have the inside track now. Said to be ripe for an announcement by Friday. Then they can go back to being pretty much forgotten about."

This is really embarrassing for Oregon State. They have the history to be one of the top programs in the new Pac 12. They have been to the Rose Bowl and sent many players to the NFL.

Being rejected by all your candidates I'd imagine would lead to people questioning why they didn't take the job (especially an FCS coach) and how bad the issues at OSU are. Could lead to any other future prospects not even bothering to apply for the job as well.
