Good, Bad, Ugly - Indy St

One more good…..Micah Harper carrying that receiver out of bounds on a tough catch. Harper has been solid
Is Micah Harper ok? After that play he looked like he was trying to sub himself off but had to stay on for another play before eventually getting subbed out. I don't think I saw him play again after that. Hopefully he's all good!

Good and bad parts together: Good: We hung 63 points on a really bad OVC cellar dweller. Bad: We hung 63 points on a really marginal OVC team. See, it's kinda like kissing your sister...or beating a fellow BSC team like Portland State. Overall, though, a great win and warm up for Idaho.
Indiana State was 6th in the conference last season, and not a cellar dweller last season. IS was picked 5th in the conference in the pre-season poll. Again, not an indication of a celler dweller. Please try to stick with the facts.

Very Bad...late in the 3rd quarter with a huge lead, Bobby has Wortham and Rocker back to receive a kickoff!!! Just stupid!

Your attached MVFC poll shows Indiana State picked for 9th place this year

Good -- We continue to get better pressure each game. The days have returned to getting so many hits on the QB that they are absolutely shook by the end of the game.

The passing game is answering a lot of questions that fans, including me, have had for a while (deep shots, middle of the field, non-screen creativity in route structure).

We have an absolute embarrassment of riches in that RB room. I hope Gilman stays all four years, but IF he leaves, we would still be left with Rocker, Running Rabbit, Fonoti, and Jones in the room. Wowzers.

LBU is back to having an absolutely stacked LB corps.

Postgame pressers have really had a lot of subtle signs of a tight knit team and a locker room that is in a good place. I don't watch every press conference post game, but Hauck was noticeably warm toward both guys this week. Last week you could tell Brooks Davis was nervous, and after he finished talking Ah Yat subtly gave him a leg slap or squeeze and told him he did good. Solo talking about how he has been welcomed and is so thankful and happy to be here, and Hauck telling him that the feeling is very mutual. Conversation about Running Rabbit being popular with both his teams and his coaches. There have just been some really encouraging signs, and it feels like the locker room is where it needs to be.

Bad -- I get that we were not trying to run up the score and the running game was humming along, but it would have been nice to get Flowers and Jensen some live reps making reads and throwing it.

Griz came to play today in all 3 phases. Looked good doing it!

Good:

- Ah Yat is officially answering a ton of questions for any doubters. Had his best game as a Griz going 22-27 for 313 and 2 TDs as well as 1 running. Second week in a row over 300 yards passing
- Eli Gillman is like a video game RB at this point. Went for 120 on just 13 carries with 3 more TDs. Best RB in FCS and it’s not really close at this point.
- glad to see Wortham do his thing again. I think he was dinged up last week but seemed back to normal today. 3 runs for 29 and 5 catches for 78
- Griz defense with 3 sacks and lots of pressure
- no sacks given up by Griz O line
- huge hit and fumble caused by Tuliaupupu scooped and scored by Rausch
- Wing with some good pressures and another pick
- 647 yards of offense, 344 passing and 303 rushing
- Dever with his first TD at WR. Been nest to see him showing up each game. Was a bit of an unknown coming in
- Bohannan has been so reliable (hope he’s okay)
- love seeing the Griz getting the TEs involved. Gale has been an awesome addition and had 4 grabs for 57 and 1 TD
- Morrison with some good punts today…only had 2 but averaged 45 yards and pinned them with one
- zero turnovers
- awesome seeing so many 2s-3s get some time and play well (Fonoti, Running Rabbit, Jones, Monte)

Bad:
- some missed tackles early that gave up extra yards
- seeing Bohannan get helped off the field

Ugly:
- hard to find much…..maybe two late scores due to poor tackling by the 2s and 3s

Feel free to add!
Looking forward to some competition. . .eventually. I think it is fair to expect blow outs most of the year. The schedule this year is about the weakest it has ever been. Hard to really know where the team is, or even how good the guys are, until they play some decent competition. Also, I have noticed such a drop in skill from most of the Big Sky teams over the past 4-5 years. It is very visible when you objectively look at it. The conference and the FCS is almost night and day from what it was for awhile. I feel like the drop off has accelerated each year since about 2020. I guess it works in the Griz's favor, because Hauk is great with keeping a consistent program, while many of the other programs have significantly dropped off. It is almost just the two Montana schools that have any real clout in the Big Sky, at this point. Am I wrong?

North Dakota isn't decent competition??

The bsc has 4 teams in the top ten, 5 in the top 15. Each more than any other conference. Please explain how that's objectively a drop in talent.

And they're 3-0 so....

Others have played exactly two good teams and lost them both. A few of those teams have even struggled against awful teams, say for example MercyHeart or whatever
I agree. It is difficult to be 3-0 regardless of who is on the schedule early. I was just trying to point out that this week's opponent will likely be more of a test than last week's.

Clout? Or performance? The only team that WAS good and has fallen way off is EWU. Montana, MSU, Idaho, Davis are pretty consistently good. THen there's usually 1-2 who pop in and out (NAU for example). Every conference has it's dogs and its big dogs. BSC is no different.
