The 2-deep is out

Who the hell is talking about this as a "rebuilding" team?? Everyone with half a brain considers it a national championship level team.
I could have sworn I saw people talking about that because of all the losses + 50 newcomers, but it’s highly possible I just have a bad memory.

You're not crazy. Six months ago, the narrative was that this year could be rough or a rebuilding year. There was a lot of chatter about transfers and revamping the entire defense. The great reports out of training camp and the hype around that have significantly raised expectations. Thankfully, it appears we didn't need a rebuilding year because you can rebuild in the offseason now due to the portal.

We call that a RELOADING year, not rebuilding. We reloaded.

Oh, I couldn't be more pleased with everything I have heard. I couldn't get to practices this year, but I am absolutely excited. I just wanted to let PT know he wasn't crazy to think that people were saying it could be a rebuilding year back in the spring.

Thats probably good, because I enjoy letting him know he's crazy 🤪 😜 I will acknowledge, that probably isnt fair... :)

Rebuild, talking about replacing spent parts of a structure.
Reload, talking about replacing a spent cartridge.
Both can be said about every team, every year. It's just semantics meant to provide an excuse after a season of underperforming.

Was anyone saying that we’d have rebuild for a year without being very successful? In the
day of the Portal, every year has significant rebuilding and reloading for most teams. If most of your defensive starters are gone, of course, you have to rebuild.
I agree that we have to rebuild or reload to a certain extent every year. And some years will , it goes without saying, will be more successful than others.

Right now in Billings, a massive 775,000 square foot, 14 story, $ 1 billion new Intermountain Health St Vincent's Hospital, the biggest private construction project in Montana history in $ terms , is being built right along North 27th on the way up to or returning from the airport, which is also the highway to Great Falls, and just a quarter mile east of their old and current campus, some of which is over 100 years old.The construction crews are busy right now today digging and building the foundation and substructure for this behemoth. This new hospital won't be completed until Summer, 2029, one of two Level One Trauma Centers in Montana--Billings Clinic is the other.

Last year, Coach Green 💚, our RC, under the direction of Coach Hauck, started rebuilding our foundation with new O linemen, for example, like Everett Johnson from Cal, now our starting RT, and new starting CB Mike Lawler from Utah out of the portal as well as talented high-school kids like our new 3rd QB Luke Flowers out of nearby Rigby, Idaho.

That remodel continued this year and is finished for now with the addition of, for example, Hunter Peck, our new starting DE grad transfer from Carroll (:How many of our peers are recruiting NAIA star players ? ), and our new RG Patrick Matan, grad transfer from old GRIZ assistant and longtime HC Dave Doeren's NC State plus more really talented high-school kids, like the Beaner bro's from Washington.

But Hoops is right, especially now in the portal era, that every year, some year's more, some year's less, depending largely on graduations and transfers out, is going to be a rebuilding, in the words of Nick, a reloading year. Our team has always been in rebuilding, reloading mode, now accelerated by the portal. Construction on our new Billings hospital will stop sometime during Summer, 2029: construction of our team will never stop !!!

Go GRIZ. !!!

I disagree. One carries a much more negative connotation, in the fact of rebuilding with a year of young / inexperienced players needing a year of building/ developing to get up to standard. Reloading relates to known quantities and trusted and established depth or proven transfer portal additions. We are clearly reloaded from last year.

Neither is an excuse from the previous year. In fact, both are commonly used as an indication of prior success and allude to how the next season's team is prepared to sustain prior success.

So I suppose Brint was wrong when he mentioned it as well?
You are not very smart. I try with you, but you're just not. Literally I'd venture to guess i doubt anyone, and I literally mean anyone, that watched any amount of fall camp is surprised that Monte isnt listed on the two deep at returner. Doesn't mean he didn't get some reps at returns during camp. But hes a freshman. Promising, yes. But hes got two very well established and talented seniors listed ahead of him, which makes total sense.

I think it could be a redecorating year. Everyone talks about reloading and/or rebuilding, but how many teams redecorate? Very few. I reconnoitered this changing landscape, and I'd like to reiterate that it could be an advantage to redecorate.

Redecorate is way too soft. We're talking FOOTBALL. RELOAD!! 😆

I am okay with redecorating but that means we must dust as well--we don't want to be overrun by dust mites, do we ? " Oh sick 😫, gross !!! " ( I am mimicking my young waiter friend here in Billings who is a great kid and also really effeminate and gay. )
