Idaho should be winning, but their coach blew it with dumb and needless onside kick

Is there anything that little brother doesn't steal from Montana?

They stole the 37 jersey idea

They stole Sweet Caroline

They stole the cougar scream from Washington St

Do they have anything original in their litter box game day?
I think the run out with the Rodeo team is original.

Oh, and Mony Mony...

The OL was not dominant. They were fine, but they didn’t take the game over. Tommy did.

Eck tried all those high risk moves— surprise onside, fake punt, going for it on 4th— because he knew he needed to steal possessions if he was going to win in Bozeman. He understood that if he just played things straight against the Cats in their own stadium, he would lose by 3 scores.

They didn’t execute any of it, which is why they got snowed under. Had they played things safe, it would have been more like 38-14 heading into garbage time.

I respect it. Eck is willing to play to win a game he shouldn’t even if it risks a bigger margin of defeat.
I thought the Cat OL came out and dominated the second half. First half not so much.

Pre game Eck mentioned they'd have to play a perfect game, get a bunch of turnovers, steal possessions, go for it on 4th down, and have MSU play poorly to even have a chance. Post game he said all the complimentary things you'd expect considering he coached at MSU & got blasted 2x this year. Outside of those comments he said of Tommy 'there's no better player in the fcs'. He said MSU has 'the best fan base in the fcs' to have that size of crowd at a night game this time of year in that weather. Of the O line his son said 'probably the best O-line we've seen'. Remember, Idaho played Oregon, granted most of their O line starters were out for that game. But Eck owned it. He took responsibility for the mistakes & questionable timing of the attempted trickery. He's a good coach & he's relatable to young players, that's why he gets talent to come to Moscow. Idaho's a team to be reckoned with which is great for the BSC.

We will see what kind of coach they can hire to replace Eck. I also wonder how much talent they will will retain.

Because why? In his postgame presser, Eck said Tommy should win the award. Many people who played the game at a high level and thus truly understand the game have said as much. What makes you a better judge? Bring up his stats and compare them to the dude from NDSU. Without Tommy this team loses many games this season. You are letting your hatred for the Cats cloud your objectivity, not to mention trashing a great kid from Butte. It’s a bad look and shows your IQ.
Good post. I agree.

They would still be undefeated. Jones is turning out to be the best player in the BSC. He is considerably better than Gillman. He is the biggest recruiting miss by BH.

Gillman is way better and faster. At this point. The other 2 backs at MSU are better than Jones, and that's why they start ahead of him when they are healthy.

Eck had Albuquerque on his mind. How else can I explain that idiotic on-side failed kick? He's doomed at UNM. Mountain West will eat his lunch

Their fans are the shit in the litterbox.

And then the rb fumbles on screen when he runs into his Ol. 2 easy and unnecessary TD's for Cats.

Mellott running a lot and very effectively. His passing and the Cat passing game are better than last year, but they can't win against good teams with Mellott's and the team's passing game. And their big receiver drops an easy TD pass. Jones is fine, but not like the other 2 backs.

Judged by the first half, all 3 Dakota schools would be winning this game.

On the other hand, the Cats have played fine or better. I assume they will win.

Mellott 7-13 for 124, and 1 TD and 1 (bad) pick.

Mellott 10-124. He's very good and dangerous. The risk is injury the more he runs.

Idaho qb is 10-14 for 159. They need to throw more. Cat's pass D and secondary is weak.

282-193 TO.

Go Griz!
Hoops,

Once again you are “cherry picking” the statistics that you want people to hear/see or read in your posts.

Since m, I have been alive the game of football has been played for 60 minutes. At the end of the game and in the box score/record books there is usually no asterisk(s). I will concur that those situations happen.

Do statics or manipulation of them make a team better than another?

From an outsider perspective I would say Coach Hauck is an excellent coach, it’s obvious from his record.

Yes, he does hold the record for the most wins in Big Sky history, which is commendable and should be celebrated.

Is he currently the best coach in your conference? From an outsider perspective I would say that he is not.

You have stated on occasion that he inherited a bad team, they did have a winning record at (7-4) overall and (5-3) in conference play, before Coach Hauck’s return

At Idaho, Coach Eck, took over a program that was (4-7) overall, and (3-5) in the conference.

Yes, your team made it to (1) F S semifinal games and the FCS National Championship game last season, but your rival at MSU, has now made it to three (3) semifinal games, since Hauck returned.

Are the last two head coaches at

rival and Idaho better than Coach Hauck? Time will tell.

No I didn’t cherry pick any stats. Games turn on plays and early plays and momentum. Those 2 plays did. I didn’t say anything about outcome of game. Once again, you can’t read.

Montana was ranked no. 33 in nation and going down hill when he took over. Had we missed playifffs two years in row too. Montana probably hadn’t been that low since the 80’s. It takes time to rebuild programs.

Hauck has 2 10-win seasons in prior years too.

I will take Hauck and his staff over any in the conference.

The coaches at SS and Idaho improved their programs but couldn’t win their playoff games.

You need to come up with better arguments. When you can’t counter, you cry cherry-picking.
