Not getting to play would be a good indicator that you are not good enough.
So, FBS coaches just offer full scholarships to transfers who aren't good enough to play for them? Bold strategy, Cotton, let's see how it works out.

OR, and bear with me here,

It could be that a radio host/journalist, who doesn't editorialize, but sometimes editorializes when it fits a narrative, might not know what the fuck he's talking about.

I’m not sure that’s true. Maybe MSU?
It astounds me sometimes how out of touch you are about this.

11 guys can be on the field at any time.

Football rosters are 100+ guys every season.

Most teams bring in 15-30 new players every year.

The math doesn't add up for all of those guys to play. I'd say most teams have at least 15-20% of their roster at any time made up of guys that will never play for them. This is completely normal.

I am hoping that he is just F'ing with you now.

I didn’t say that they all play 100% of the time. I don’t believe there are multiple players that never play in 3 or 4 years as you suggest.

On a semi-related note: We've seen a lot of people talking about "development" in the last year or so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are roughly three hours per week to "develop" in games during the season. The guys practice pretty much every day during the season.

This is part of why I don't really like the narrative of "[player] wasn't given a shot to prove himself", etc. This isn't college baseball where there are 40+ games to experiment with. I would hope that if a dude is consistently crushing it and outperforming the guy ahead of him on the depth chart in practice, he would get that "shot". In other words, I have to believe that the "shots" are given to every player every practice. Could be wrong.
