Grebe got DPOY because he drew double and triple teams to keep him from getting sacks. Not unlike Gubner whose stats weren't eye popping either. Anyone who understands the game wouldn't just base opinions on stats.

Grebe and other MSU defensive players played way fewer snaps than anyone else in the BSC because they were getting pulled in Q3 in addition to rotating heavily.

So us the actual stats. I don't believe all the stuff you Cats just make up. Harris was pulled and rotated

True. But if you looking at stats alone it wouldn’t be egregious if Harris ended up with the award. The argument Hoops made was that selection committee usually gives the nod to Players on the best team which was MSUs Grebe.

In the 90s /2000s I would get all worked up because all the conference awards went to the Griz players ( even though arguments could have been made) that’s just how it is

True, but I didn’t and don’t suggest that Harris should have gotten it. I’m fine with Grebe getting it and assumed he would likely get it. I think he was first team last year, but didn’t check. Thx.

This is voted on by the head coaches idiot. They don’t base it solely off of stats. The coaches watch tons of film and recognize who is the best players when they game plan. If Harris was legitimately the best player he would’ve gotten 1st team.

a little curious about the kr first team for bergen, considering he didn't even line up as a kr much of the season.

I doubt his stats tell the story.....but he's obviously the best. There's a kid at Eastern who's lights out too. Taco too.

Why can’t some of these Cat posters just stick with the facts? So often, they have an excuse or an explanation. And most of the time the excuse or explanation is not based on fact and is just out of the air.

However, Riley Wilson would have had more sacks this year, but drew quadruple teams too often.

They ran the TE across the formation and cut blocked him, it’s illegal but that was the tactic they used.

I highly doubt any of the fans with strong opinions on this have spent a lot of time watching both Grebe and Harris and carefully comparing the two. So it's going to be based on stats for virtually everyone and that's going to be warped because MSU defenders barely played compared to many of their counterparts on other teams.

I agree it’s going to be based on stats….

Harris has twice as many TFLs, more tackles, higher sack total, and has an interception.

So question is… how much credit are you giving Grebe in all these areas based on somewhat less playing time? Does he just get credited with an extra tackle per game? Do you really know how much less playing time grebe has vs Harris (of course we don’t).

So again… I believe that Grebe is very deserving of this honor. But the stats used to determine this award really favored Harris.

Listen I love Junior Bergen like he's my own son but All-Conf as a punt returner with a grand total of 8 fielded punts sort of feels like a lifetime achievement award no?

He was lights out. But.....when teams kick it out of bounds etc. to avoid Bergen, you have to take that into account. Kinda like what teams do when they line up against Grebe........

Of course not, unless it's court ordered nobody should be forced to do that. And I didn't get to watch the Cat/Griz either. My point is that very few players are ever triple teamed; its impractical, very hard to do, unnecessary, and would mean that even in 13 personnel, you would only have several defenders in the box who would have to be unblocked.
