Article on where Montana kids go, and why?

Like this one from the Army's website for an Infantry officer?

"As an Infantry Officer, you’ll be responsible for leading Infantry Soldiers at all levels of command and combined armed forces during missions on the ground. You’ll assess the situation and lead attack, defense, and other operations."
Things could've changed in 30 years. In the 90s there were quite few engineers, experts, and specialists names.

I don’t know who Brott is, but I think you’re taking a one-year sample set and applying it over the entire program. I mean, it’s going to ebb and flow somewhat from year to year. Just the last couple years we’ve had Hill, Janacaro, O’Connell, Boomcini, Myer, Klucewich, Lee, Graves, Flink, Bergen, Hauck, Welnel, etc.

What is probably most disappointing to me is guys we THOUGHT were going to excel who, for one reason or another, can’t seem to find/stay on the field. Kellen Detrick comes to mind first and foremost.
Yeah, I think we're on the same page in that regard. The Griz's Montana recruits just don't seem to be proving out as the fans have hoped lately, for whatever reason. We do have some solid rotation guys, and graduated some dudes in past years.

It is definitely just a snapshot, but quite a stark one right now in magnitude and numbers. The optics of competing with Tech (admittedly the premier engineering school in the state) and Minot State for new recruits is also difficult. But I believe we all hope it's a blip and bears out long-term for the good guys.

For those who think players hate Hauck, why's his retention rate so minimized, compared to many D1 programs?

Sorry, I don't buy that narrative.

Just a little background, Allez, that I should have already mentioned--when Big Sky Economic Development Authority ( EDA) in Billings and Rocky Vista announced that the Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine ( MCOM ) had received preliminary accreditation by the Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation ( COA) in May, 2021, that angered Dr. Paul Dolan of Benefis in Great Falls, who had been working to bring a medical school to Great Falls since 2015. The same COA gave preliminary accreditation to The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine ( TCOM) in Great Falls in August, 2021.

I didn't know the TCOM in Great Falls was in even in existence until you mentioned it in your first post--I thought Dr. Dolan and Benefis had thrown in the towel after the Billings medical school received preliminary accredation before them and Rocky Vista broke ground on their new campus in West Billings in July of 2021. Only when you mentioned the Great Falls school did I Google Great Falls medical school and discover the school was built and opened after all.

The dispute between Benefis and Dr. Dolan in Great Falls and Big Sky EDA revolved around anger Dolan and Benefis directed at Big Sky EDA for recruiting Rocky Vista to Billings when Benefis and Dolan told the Great Falls Tribune that Big Sky EDA knew Benefis, represented by Dr. Dolan, had already been working on bringing a medical school to Great Falls for over five years when Big Sky EDA and Rocky Vista University upended those plans, likely dooming their plans because while Montana did indeed need a medical school, Montana with a population of only 1.2 million people, didn't need two medical schools. Dr. Dolan was also critical of Rocky Vista for being a for- profit medical school--the TCOM is a nonprofit school.

Big Sky EDA and Rocky Vista University's response went something like this: Dr. Dolan and Benefis didn't own the exclusive rights for a Montana medical school, Billings and the region served by Billings Clinic and St. V's was over twice as big in both geography and population as Great Falls and North-Central Montana, covering South-Central and Eastern Montana, Central and Northern Wyoming, and Western North and South Dakota, and therefore, Billings was a much better location for a medical school than Great Falls, and Dr. Dolan's argument against for-profit medical schools was disingenuous because the first medical school he tried to recruit to Great Falls in 2015 was a for-profit medical school and the proposed MCOM in Billings had to meet the exact same accreditation standards as for non-profit medical schools and in fact, both for-profit and non-profit medical schools are accredited by the same agency, the COA.

Sorry for the long-winded explanation, and I think the hard feelings between Dr. Dolan and Benefis and Big Sky EDA and Rocky Vista University and, to a lesser extent, Billings Clinic and Intermountain Health St. Vincent's hospitals have softened somewhat as badly injured Montansns in Great Falls and North-Central Montans that require a Level One Trauma Center are now being flown to BC or St. V's in Billings.

I have one friend and one family member who both graduated from msu with engineering degrees. One is a janitor/raft guide and the other installs sprinklers. Meanwhile I have a swath of friends who graduated from UM with liberal arts degrees who now have healthy six figure incomes. Weird, huh?
Please. Come on dude.

If I were making it up I would have gone a lot further than that. Both of the aforementioned msu grads also passed the FE. Their choice, not mine.
Not that it has anything to do with anything; but my brother has a degree in Geotechnical engineering from one of the top schools in Canada and has never worked as an engineer. Of course he's a self made millionaire who has been retired since he was 45 (10 years). So went in another direction.

With all due respect, I think all, or almost all, the Bozeman players that are here are the ones MSU didn’t recruit, or at least not hard.

Obviously Crews had an issue that led to him not being in Missoula, but Jones was recruited hard by UM. Don’t think Ortt was, pretty positive Dolan wasn’t.
MSU has unbelievable recruiters. Big part of what is setting them apart.

Yeah, we successfully recruit Merek Milhesh, the Montana Player of The Year, as the QB that led Helena Capital to the Montana Class AA State Championship plus 4 OL from Washington and Hawaii between 6-5 and 6-6, 250 to 340 pounds also in our '25 class, so I guess we should just raise the white flag and surrender now to the Shi##y Kitties " and their "unbelievable recruiters" and forfeit all future Brawls..."We Are Not Worthy !!! "

Good joke.
Are the following Washington players a joke…
Junior Alexander (WR)
Scottre Humphrey ( Cats handled the Griz with our top rusher out..)
Jabez Woods (WR)
Ryan Bowles (TE)
Danny Uluilakepa (MLB) - out the last 6 games
Unterrio Henley (RB)
AJ Tanupo - (DT)
Luvens Valcin - (TE)

Two, three and four star players. The Cats are magic recruiters. Jokes on you!

Never heard of most of them. Are they players? Who do they play for?

You’re really not! I will take the Cats recruiting any and every day of the week.

Have you heard of Josaiah Asuega? Three star D Tackle from South Kitsap up in good old Washington? The Griz offered him and he said no thanks! Cats win again!
BTW - probably being sarcastic with the who are they comment. Otherwise, you know jack shit about Montana football and the recruiting train we have going from WA state.

I have never heard a player say they picked UM to play for BH. I have, however, heard several players talk about him negatively after finishing their careers.
I know a kid who went to UM because of his interactions with him. He was raised a Cat fan, his dad was a 3 year starter in bozeman, his mom and grandparents graduated from msu. He took trips back to back weeks to both. He said the experiences were completely opposite and his dad advised him to go Griz. He graduates with a master degree this month.
