Who Will it Be ?

Ah Yat will start then the second game, it will be Fife or Huot.
It wouldn't shock me if there was suddenly a two QB system (maybe three with Fife or Huot being the third doing Wildcat stuff) for the OC games

I like all three, but the one I think will start the season will be the one who gels best with the offensive line, particularly the new center. I would bet that will be Ah Yat!

bubz are going to fall off a cliff next year. In fact, they may be Thelma & Louise-ing it this year. They have gotten progressively worse each year under coach sixx since choach left.
Sixer & Mixer
You just wait until they trot out that new offense. (Literally, they might do it on horseback). It’ll be different this year, boy howdy. New OC, new DC. They’re gonna run this innovative offense where the QB takes the snap, and then, get this, he runs into tacklers until he gets hurt. It’s revolutionary. Sure, some will say it was done in the 1930s, BUT, nobody has done it with the Vim of Coach Sixx.

It's like last year when you claimed you were the best rhythmic gymnast in the world because groups of wild boars taught you how to handle the ribbon and funded your tournament entries with their camel racing winnings. Last year.
Like most of your posts it makes no sense

I am in hopes they would use a 3 quarterback system until they can't. Certainly the talent would lead you believe that could be the case.

I don't know who our starting QB will be next season, but what I DO know is: no matter who it is, you will be here trying to brag about some win against Stetson or somebody in your Golden Shower Game (or whatever they call it).
I think poorgriz has a booth set up behind Spectators for pregame, halftime and postgame fun on Golden Shower Weekend.

Here’s a formula: Too many quarterbacks = No Quarterback. You want one guy who is “THE” guy especially if you are chasing a natty. All these guys with this strength or that or that weakness or this, or that experience in the system or not, or a multi-page thread pointing to this guy or that is a poor formula for success, especially given the expectations of this fan base. McDowell was that guy last year. We don’t have that guy this year.

Personally I think they only way we make a deep playoff run is if fife is the guy this year, does it happen we will see but I think he has the potential to make it all click and work once real practice starts.

If not then ah yay is the man but I think Ah yat will get his time and is the Griz qb of the future and that will be after this next year after he plays a bit more here and there this year. Personally if he plays a lot this year I think we will see a lot of growing pains, which is good also as he will get better but I don't think that will lead us on a deep playoff run

As for hout I def think there is something there but I also think there is a decent gap between him and fife and ah yat.

I like this subject though as we get all kinds of good, bad, random, funny, and egriz at its finest opinions

I’m thinking we don’t really need a true starting QB. Since the 3-3-5 is back from obscurity and working for us after its disappearance following the desert swarm days, I think it would only be fitting if we ran some wishbone with Junior at QB, Gilman at FB, and Ostmo/Rocker Jr. at the 2 HB positions. 😉

Look back at early last year. Vidlak was  THE QB. Then, NAU. It took THAT reality check to get the coaches attention. I'm hoping last year's lessons aren't lost on this year's crew.

I think the struggle in the night game against Ferris State might have been where the Vidlak train was really starting to buck the rails, even if it may have completely gone off the rails after NAU. Maybe we all should have looked at the lackluster performance against Butler with a little more scrutiny, but with splitting time it was hard to tell. To be honest I don’t think there was too many inside or outside the program that really thought that Vidlak wasn’t going to be the guy after his spring performance and the pedigree of 2 FBS program stints heading into the season, but we all saw the team respond differently when McDowell was in there for whatever reason and that only got better when he became the full time starter. Though he had shown flashes right off the bat in fall camp. I hope with WCU coming into town we have to have it figured out before conference play.

It is not a sin to criticize coaching decisions. Learning curves is something all teams deal with every fall. My concern is the learning curves of the  GRIZ COACHES.
Last year, three games under their belts, two in the friendly confines of WGS, they waltz into Walkup and get their asses handed to them. It took THAT to get Bobby's attention. Post-game, he said(paraphrasing) 'We have changes to be made, starting tomorrow.' To his credit, he did make some changes. High on the list was the R.O.A.D. mentality which seemed to have set in among the coaches. GONE! So, they  do have an upswing on their curve. Hopefully, the lessons from last year have not been forgotten.

I am not a gris fan but if I was I would hope that whoever is playing qb by game 2 knows what they are doing. The gris constantly bring in transfer qbs and this typically causes early season struggles. While UND is tough it would be a rough loss and could hurt early season morale. All I’m saying is the game 2 qb or qbs better have their stuff together. There is no doubt the gris defense will be strong and the skill players have talent but with no qb the offense could hurt (like last year).
