Who Will it Be ?

Americans can play in the CFL, man. First you said he is only getting a shot because he is 6'6". I pointed out that 5'10" QBs have been selected FIRST OVERALL in the last few years, and now he is getting a shot because he is Canadian? Man, you're reaching on this one.

And I don't disagree that they would have needed to develop him. But go back to the start of the conversation. You're shifting goalposts a lot on me here. No hate to you. You're not a dick and have strong opinions. But you're really moving goalposts mid-debate.
The CFL draft is only for Canadians so therefore he has a great advantage to get drafted. Yes height isn’t necessary but totally helps a pocket passer.

“Since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, 172 quarterbacks have started at least 50 games—only 11 of them were 6-foot or shorter”

Sure. To be drafted, you are correct.

Good effort on getting real statistics to make a point. Credit there. But I was specifically saying the nfl has changed. The height matters less with the modern game with a lot more rollouts and movement, as well as the run game for speeder backs leading to different coverages and schemes they play. The 70's were different. Hell, the early 2000's were different. People were still saying running quarterbacks couldn't work while Mike Vick was on the cover of madden.

The NFL has changed a lot in the last 10 years. I have been trying to find some stats about more recent numbers, but I'm coming up short and don't have all the much time tonight.

Of the 11 qbs that have started 50 games and been under 6 foot (which is a really self servingly arbitrary line for you to draw when we are talking 6'6" vs 5'10", no offense), pretty sure from my brief gander that it is a very recent trend. And guys like Vick and Brees were said to not have a CHANCE to be successful because of their height.

kyler Murray and Bryce Young have been drafted number one in recent years. That would not have happened EVER prior to 10 years ago. It ain't what it used to be. They no longer just tell the qb to stand there and throw over the line.

Agreed I think qbs can still be very talented when they are shorter. I was mainly focused on Bauman’s game as a “pocket passer” (although he can use his legs) makes it easier when he is tall… very similar to Rovig in 19.
