McDowell back in the portal

Interpret this how you want...
... but this makes me think the vote was no and Cliff is looking for another home.
That's the impression I'm getting as well,
Wouldn't be surprised if the Cats sign him up for attempted Schadenfreude.
With Housewright and Chambers no longer there along with Mellot being prone to injury I don't know if they're going to still be running the 2 QB system of the last few seasons.

If he comes back and he starts a game that does not matter you will know if the team doesn't want him here and so will he. "Can't understand what happened to the O-Line I knew they were protecting me when I was here last." Must be the new coaches Cliff.

I can't believe you would want Cliff to play for the cats. I mean they are our competition but they are from Montana. It would be wrong to wish that on anyone.

Interpret this how you want...

(The last two games combined)
Passing 38/69 (55%), 325 yards, 0 TDs, 1 int, 7 sacks
Rushing 25 attempts, 19 yards net, 1 TD

Body language that suggested he would rather be somewhere else.

My vote would be NO.
Yes, let’s cherry pick stats that fit our narrative. That’s an excellent approach.

How many freaking QBs do we need on the team? We brought in some QBs who expect to compete for the starting QB job. Senario #1- How would the new recruits feel if McDowell was allowed back and won the starting job? What would the mood of the QB room be at that point? Would this affect this chemistry of the team? Senario #2- Will McDowell play nice if he comes back, but does not start after he "led the team to the NC game last season"?
What we need is a proven FCS level QB who knows the system, the plays, the team, the coaches, and has proven the ability to lead a team to the NC game. Winning would cure a lot of ills, drama queen.

Do you think McDowell played well in the playoffs, and in the last 3 games? How about the 2d half of the championship game? Kem's stats aren't cherrypicked in any respect. Here's what another Big Sky coach told me after the game. "He [McDowell] didn’t look like he wanted to be in the game Sunday from about 1/2 way through the 3rd Qtr till end of game."

Back in the days when I went to every UCLA home football game, there was this old guy named Geof who wore a letter sweater and went around the Rose Bowl to rile the crowd on third downs, etc. He was a cheerleader with a microphone. I didn’t mind him. One game, somebody yelled at him. I remembered it as “Nobody likes you, Geof!” but my wife remembers it as “Everyone hates you, Geof.” The latter being considerably more aggressive. The fact is that many people found old Geof annoying, and he had the sense to hang up the megaphone shortly thereafter.

I provide the above context free.
You do such a great job of social media outtakes on this athletics site. It brings culture and grace to what otherwise would be just discussing athletics. You're the best. Never stop.

Answer: What 'hoops' said. YEAH! And don't mess with me again! 🤣

Seriously, I will try to answer your question in a comprehensive manner, AZ, as I do respect your opinion.

When McDowell quit the first time and went 'Portal' on da Griz, I was disappointed(to say the least). Evidently, he thought top tier FCS football was beneath him, and has been quote saying the same thing, basically.

He enters the Portal, arms extended, proclaiming(by his actions) 'I'm here, you may now kiss my ring, my feet, AND my ass!' Crickets, except for Temple. Temple all but states he looks great and has the inside lane at starting. His dream, starting FBS QB.
Not good enough for him, as he QUITS TEMPLE and re-enters the portal, AND seeks a waiver from UM because he has quit and transferred from so many schools in his football career(five quits, Louisiana, Kilgore, C. Arkansas, Montana, and Temple, six counting quitting his Southern U. 'commit'). Crickets.

Now, it is rumored at least, he wants to come back to the Griz? How much chutzpah does THAT take? He thinks he is such hot sh*t, and that the FBS world would beat a path to his door. He...was...WRONG!!! Now, he expects, EXPECTS, to be forgiven and welcomed back with open arms(and presumably be the starter on day one, based on his personality traits).

I'd tell him he is welcome back to WGS,

(read the whole sentence before you stroke out)

to WATCH one of the best FCS teams(players, coaching staff, and FANS) play, from whatever seat he can find(and afford). There, he could dwell on what might have been, could have been, and should have been(if only he had gotten his head out of his entitled/pampered ass).

Go Griz!
FTC!
FMcDowell!

Next question? 🙂

I don’t know if this was what he was thinking, but really all he had to do last year was manage games, which he did well, and let the defense not have to make up for offensive mistakes. If he at all thinks he was the main reason the Griz made it to Frisco, he’s delusional. A limited but efficient passer, an excellent scrambler, and he didn’t turn the ball over. That’s acceptable for a team that had our defense last season, but with an average defense we are struggling to get a bye with Clifton and the offense.

Do you think we’re even IN those playoff games if McDowell isn’t on the team? Was Vidlak getting us to the quarters? Semis? Finals? How about Ah Yar? Huot?

McDowell was much more than a game manager. He made plays. He picked up a lot of 3d downs. Less so late in season. He isn’t reason Griz went to Frisco, Griz don’t get there without him. 11-1 as starter.

Kind of dumb if they decide to not bring McDowell back. He showed he could take us to the promise land. If not for McDowell, the griz would have been lucky to get 7 wins last year. Was looking terrifying before he completely took over. And it sounds like Ah Yat is the only capable QB we have. If he goes down, it's gonna be a loooong season.
